Long lost sisters! There really aren't enough Roe women in this game. I'm glad SE didn't make them look like the men but with lady parts... *shudder*

    My!!

    What big ears you have!

That is a very profound and socially superior set you have. Did you groom them to flare out like that, or was it natural? As for me, the growth was stunted by a soiree in my younger years that left a slight scar in my heart, but a massive bulge in my resolve.

When I was aught but 14 rotations, on a cool night in the Second Umbral Moon, I decided to go for a quiet stroll through the Shroud's more prominent areas. As I walked in silence, contemplating the importance of the Twin Adders, I began to hear a soft, melodic song drifting from the flora. However, when I tried to investigate, the song always eluded me, beckoning me further into the forest.

I followed the song for what felt like a fortnight. Concentration on the complex harmonies 'twixt the natural sounds of the sleeping animals proved nigh enduring upon my young ears, but I persisted. Something.....enthralling kept my feet moving. Maybe, 'twas the sense of adventure that stirred my curiosity, or the pint of mead Buscarron slipped me under the table earlier....either way I would not stop.

Eventually, the song led me to a cave. The noises of the cave nearly drowned the sound of the song until I focused my ears past the incessant buzzing of the Kalong's wings. Damn nocturnal bats! Lucky enough for me, the bats were no more aggresive than a common tree slug. As I dodged guano, and rocky formations (the passage was narrow!!) I emerged on the other side of the tunnel. As I reached the clearing, the song immediately halted and mine eyes focused upon what had brought me here.

It was nothing. Wait... what... is that? It's NOT nothing! It's a sylph! And it was being attacked by a Wild Boar! The sylph must have used the trees in the forest to carry a distress song all the way to my position! But, how did it know I would respond to that harmony? How did it even know, anyone would hear it's cries? In the void-pitch blackest of nights, even I claim to be foolish leaving the secure posts of Gridania. Ahh!! No time for contemplation!

I strung my bow, nocked an arrow and let loose on the aberration. The first arrow sunk deep into the hide of that terrifying beast. It hardly acknowledged my existence, and kept ravenously trying to claw its way up the tree branch the injured sylph was located upon. I looked deep inside my resolve, and nocked arrows three upon my timber and let loose all of them! 3 direct hits! The boar's rage focused upon me after that, and charged with full speed. Luckily, my lancer friend from Gridania taught me a trick which worth was proven this night. I ran towards the charging monstrosity and swept its feet out from under him, stunning him just long enough to nock one last arrow and bury it into the feral hog's skull.

Exhausted from the encounter, I hobbled over to the tree where the injured sylph had begun singing again. For a moment, I wanted to reach out and make sure it had not been badly injured, but then that song replayed itself in the depths of my ear and calmness set in. When she was done, I could barely see the new sun rising over the plethora of trees covering this grove. I had no idea how much time had passed, only that I was now safe. And so was the sylph.

She fluttered down to and perched her small body atop my shoulder and whispered. When she spoke, it's almost as if she did so in the melodic tones of the song that wrought my heart. "This is Urth's Gift, but you were the gift to me on this night. You have my thanks, but you must also have my tune. The song that beckoned you to me is not just any song, and can only be heard by gifted ones with insight. Here..."

The sylph touched my forehead. My entire scope of vision turned white. The hottest white light you could ever imagine, except the heat brought no pain. Only comfort. I felt my ears, I could feel...the miniscule hairs on my ears standing on edge. Suddenly, my ears curled backwards, as if they were being tied back. Painless. Comfort. The feelings were new to me, as I have struggled my whole life since the Calamity. In one night, sorrow washed away from my being, and replaced with another foreign feeling.

    Confidence.

"Let the beat of the song ring true within your ears, Indaki. It was no mistake that you came to my aid this night. Upon ending your training with the Archery guild, pray seek Jehantel. He can guide you the rest of the way."

Before I could bring myself to a state of full consciousness, the sylph was gone. Moreover, the song that resonated in my ears was gone as well. I was left there, surrounded by my newfound emotions. So many questions left unanswered. The only thing that was clear, was my purpose. My goal. That in which I had been searching for, found me!

This is how this game makes me feel.
