Regarding Gear checks

Just go straight into AK with your Blue quest set+some decent accessories(grand company has some I believe). After you get carried through AK once you can get your lvl 55 green Grand Company weapon. That's plenty to start doing AK without needing to be carried (assuming you are a somewhat experienced mmo player). Spam AK or the final two story dungeons to get philosophy tokens. Once you have mostly darklight you can start your relic quest and do the titans in order. It would be nice to get garuda wep before titan, but not really required.

Probably because you are advocating getting carried as opposed to getting geared, which is what OP was asking about. The kind of mindset you are putting forth here is the same cancerous mindset which results in hundreds (if not thousands) of wipes every day in DF groups. "Why should I bother getting geared when I can just have other people carry me?". What a horrible philosophy. I bet you voted for Obama.

It's only 1 run. Back when everyone is new people did AK with 3-4 undergeared people. AK is tuned towards fresh 50s with blue quest gear (not fate grinders with lvl 5 whites or people in full darklight). I remember when I first got in there it was actually a challenge. I couldn't get hit by anything I wasn't supposed to or mess up my combos. Pretty much right when I got the 55 green wep from grand company and had the experience of a run, it became fairly easy. There is nothing wrong with being below the gear curve if you are still geared enough to do it with 4 people of your gear level.
