    Your idea is really good but i wouldn't use it for that purpose. I'm a great fan of the system that everyone has to do something to being able to craft something exclusive.

    My ALC needs:

    Nuggets <-- Smith needs ore <-- a Miner finds ore .... crafters/gatherers check
    Blood and the exclusive Mats <-- Combat classes get's those ... combat check

    Ok, if they were a bit less greedy i would have been a happy panda but the system is able to work. Let a bit time go by. Often we, the crafters, say that the fighters rush to endgame. And now we can't make a good example?
    Time will tell.

    I like this idea. An alternative is the integration of crafting into dungeons designed for DoW or DoM. All of the mechanics you mentioned could simply be "utility"-type tools that make the dungeon much easier or efficient if you come prepared with crafted items, or allow you to pause and swap into your crafter class periodically throughout the dungeon.

    The rewards from this dungeon could be oriented towards crafting, but include some DoW or DoM gear.

    We're never going to get unique and innovative content as long as Yoshi-P is in charge. That type of design died with FFXI years ago, we're only going to get rehashed ideas done in the most horrible way imaginable(see: fates).

    If a good chunk of people go in to opposition we'll see those crafting+gathering+fighting-teamfights some time in the future.
    If we fight each other, we won't get anything.

    gardener ... mows the ivy from the wall
    miner ... breaks through
    fighters ... hold back several waves while gardener and miner widen the hole
    gourmet ... cooks some stinky meal for the elevator guy
    fischer ... catches the fish for the cook
    metall smith + woodpeckers ... build a bridge
    Alchemist ... poisons the gatekeeper
    Jeweller ... offer the biggest diamond he found to te boss

    Now mix and match that and we could have a a dungeon with several ways to the exit. Ofc we have times where there is no gardener available and the miner has to do the job alone, magicaly there is another wall, without ivy.

    I like this idea, and the responses. It sounds like fun!

    I haven't played a game that had something like this and I think I'd greatly enjoy the change of pace. ♥

    I'd like to see fate type things over dungeons. Timed areas that pop up that require a DoL/H to do, while DoW/M couldn't do them. Not exactly sure how it would work, but would be a nice break from the same thing the crafters and gatherers do. Maybe for crafters you have to supply an emergency supply that you can only craft in the fate, like bandages for weavers, potions for alchemists, etc. that help an army that is needing to get back to the front lines. Gatherers could try to beat back a monster that is overgrowing an area, or be ones like the turn in fates, gather enough, turn them in.

    A fate...

    - large Area with 2 walls built around a center encounter
    - water in tht area
    - all kinds of crafters and gatherers are "needed"

    First wall is a natural wall and the gardeners are most effective (77,5%) in mowing that obstacle, miners are able to mow too but at a pace of 33-50%.
    Second wall is made from stone and both gatherers can wear it down like the natural one.
    Fisher catches fish and seafood, , and raise the efficiency by 2,5%
    Cook's cook fisch meal and raise by another 2,5%
    Blacksmith sharpen the tools 2,5%
    Amourer produce security helmets 2,5%
    Goldsmith produce security glasses 2,5%
    Leather worker produce boots 2,5%
    Weaver produce security gloves 2,5%
    Woodworker repairs the tools 2,5%
    Alchemist produce a potion to settle the creatures nearby 2,5%

    Loot/Rewards:
    - No Gil, we get enough already
    - shards, cristals, poly's
    - GC marks
    - crafting mats ?
    - rare crafting mats
    - "low" crafting and gathering EXP

    The tough one would be to balance out how often the repairs have to be done. Imagine, only one woodworker is there an has to repair 100 miners
    A NPC could be the solution -> grab an order and fulfill it -> return to NPC. Ofc the PC has to stay somewhere on a good to see platform where nobody can ever stand.

    Another FATE cold be building a jail for Lalafell and all other minions out there...

    Yesss we need endgame stuff for non combat players. Currently my main is Miner, I am enjoying my Luminary grind and darksteel farming, but eventually I will need more content, so this is a great idea.

    Did you guys know that before Yoshi-P took over that Tanaka was working on a group crafting system. I'm on my phone right now, so I can't provide any links. What I rember reading about was getting a group of crafters together to bake a huge cake. I believe Yoshi said that he liked the idea of a crafting party. However he didn't want parties to make a cake that didn't have a purpose. He said he wanted to introduce content that uses the cake along with the ability to craft it.

    I still believe that crafting parties will be introduced at some point. SE already did quite a bit of work developing this idea, and it would be a shame if that work went to waste.
