AK Tanks - point Anantaboga's rear at a wall

I've been through too many Duty Finder parties lately with tanks who feel the only way to hold Anantaboga is with his ass aimed at the middle of the room. I've tried teaching a better way to people and am tired of hearing "that's the way I've always done it". That's a no-improvement attitude.

    For reference:

    This position is bad.
    This position is worse.

    For contrast:

    This position is optimal.

Thanks for reading. May your AK queues improve.

I don't mind tail facing out but I can see it will be much better this way with Tail facing wall. The problem will be when you only have the one pillar left and everyone has to run over to hide next to tank. Tank can then face the tail out and everyone can be happy.

On my first run the group (who had experienced players) told me to tank him in the far corner with him facing the room, with his tail to wall and the dps attacked him on the sides. A good tank always takes advice from people who have more experience in a dungeon.

That's more the way I was told to tank him.

I typically tank him in corner 4, with the tail facing 1. Not directly on the statue, but behind it in the very corner. That way, I never have to move for Imminent Catastrophe (you dont have to hump the statue to avoid the damage), the tailswipe covers less than half the room diagonally which leaves plenty of room for placing orbs. Not always best move to leave the tail in the wall because some undergeared or underskilled groups need the tailswipe animations to survive heals or the soft enrage, and what you proposed is hardly the "optimal" set up, as I have used it in the past and still seen groups walk in front of breath complaining that "at least tail swipe has a red aoe i can see".

Personally, I have more fun when my tanks play Anantaboga-roulette with us by constantly running in circles around the boss.
Around and around and around he goes! Where will he tail swipe? Nobody knows!

I don't agree with the optimal - prefer him on the other side of pillar #4. Ranged can continue to do damage while avoiding Imminent Catastrophe then.

    This^^^^

The melee/tank are LoS from heals they way you have it in the picture and is a real pain in the ass. The tank I run with usually stands on the other side of the pillar and no LoS.

I think I'm going to keep tanking him in such a way that I don't have to move or pay attention.
