    BRD Dots not applying

Do DoTs suffer from Diminishing Returns? Sometimes if I try to clip Venomous Strike or Windbite too soon, or sometimes for no reason... it doesn't apply even though the hit lands. Anybody else get this?

I have noticed that as well. Sometimes it will randomly tell me it was fully resisted even though I see the show land and it does its damage.

It happens when you apply a "weaker" version to a buffed version. For example: I have Straight Shot and Hawk's Eye up and I apply my DoTs. When I go back with only Straight shot, it won't reapply itself because I tried using a weaker version. I have to wait for the DoTs to wear off

Because DoTs gain from any temporary buffs you have up (Raging Strikes, Blood for Blood etc) and wont let you reapply them early with an inferior DoT, such as one that is used when you have no buffs up.

The DOT you are trying to clip is stronger than the DOT you are casting. Clipping in general is a pretty silly idea since refreshing for CDs is a DPS loss and losing ticks is a DPS loss. Just wait till it ends.

That explains it. I like to have 100% uptime on my dots and that's likely why I see this happen. I'll just let em drop off before refreshing.

That's because a weaker buff, debuff or DoT won't overwrite a stronger one.
So if you trigger your Raging Strikes and land your Windbite and after it wears off try to clip a second Windbite over it, it won't work, you need to wait for it to timeout

Thanks, I will have to take that into account in the future.

That's why you should also wait for your buff to go back up if missing a few seconds so they are always casted at max potential.
