Collectors Edition Upgrade question

Hello all,

I purchased the digital download of the standard edition for $29.99. I'm really enjoying the game so far.

My question is, If I go to the SE store and purchase the physical collectors edition, when I get it can I upgrade my standard account using the key for it and have all of the bonus stuff on my current account or will I have to create an entirely new account and start over?

I've already created a Free Company with some friends and have no interest in starting over. If that's the case then I don't think I'll be getting the collectors edition.

if you add the serial number to THE SAME service account you should be able to get the ingame contents without losing anything.
but since I didn't try this, you might want to make a support ticket to be sure (or someone has experience first hand here).

If you already registered the game in the mog station, there should be a upgrade option you can select in the mog station, and you can then pay the extra 20 dollars for the CE edition. if you're still logged in when you do this, just log out and log back in, and you will have your CE items.

No you can't upgrade a standard account using a 2.0 CE game code. That code will only work for a completely new service account, it won't work for upgrades.

You'll need to upgrade it digitally as the person above me mentioned.

Assuming you actually have Windows version now (sorry I made that assumption), there's actually a similar thread about this with 31 pages here which may interest you:

That thread differs slightly in that it originally started out with people with 1.0 accounts wanting to upgrade to CE with a 2.0 CE physical box, but the situation is the same as yours in that you/they have a standard account obtained via whatever method and want to upgrade it with a physical collectors edition.

One way that I believe may work (have to confirm this with someone else though), is applying a PS3 collectors edition to your account (assuming your current version is Windows) because that should then give you another 30 days free AND make it collectors edition. You can only have 1 Windows or 1 PS3 game per service account, but you can have 1 of each.

The full physical collector's edition for pc won't work but getting it for ps3 will. Plus you will be given another free 30 day trial. Items are linked to your SE account and can be redeemed once you enter the code in the psn store.

If you own a ps3 this will be very easy. If you do not own the console you will need to go to the PlayStation website and set up an account. Then go to the SE website and link the two. When you get your codes you can redeem them directly from the psn store which you can access from their website.
