    That's kind of an interesting point. They could have made the summons look like the summons, but size them like the egi. This would fit the concept of the summon being a fraction of the real primals power, but also give us actual summons. That and improving their use as pets would address most of the issues. It would also make XIV summoner different from other FF titles (at least the titles I know.)

    Edit: The other thing that came to mind to me is this is Final Fantasy not EQ, or WOW. Final Fantasy has Summoners not Necromancers or Warlocks. FF summoner should be a summoner.

    But the thing is alot of people are very passionate about the Summoner Job, and its not just another job to level to 50. To them this news is very disappointing.

    Alot of players are not using Summoner endgame, most people just leveled it to 50 just to have all jobs at 50. For me, i love pet classes but the look of the egi is too cute and the job itself doesnt really feel like a summoner. I like the job, but i think i say that because its the only pet class in the game.

    The least i would want is to have the FFXI summons ported over for the evolutions, its less work on the dev team. You guys can even add the elemental glow to them on certain parts of the body. This way they still look different from the primals and still maintain the Egi Vision SE has.

    I just really wish SE would just open both ears and listen to the players feedback on the job that they are passionate about.

    what does that have to do with the concerns raised in this thread? People didn't complain about how useful the job is they complained about how the job plays. And the look of the pets. Nothing that can be fixed by learning how to play.

    Nuuuuu... Black Mages dont need more dots! What they need is moar flashy spells! We need big kabooms of fire and shadow... yeah... all spells need flashier animations ... Fire 1 is a tiny ball and fire 3 is the same tiny ball with a decent explosion on hit ... like once a wise crazy person said, we needs a Meteor spell!

    Although, they could make flashier BLM spells and add a second job to THM and make it more DoT based job. If it only could happen >< Maybe on the expansion we can hope for actually flashy and cool looking spells that seem actual habringers of chaos and destruction.

    They should go make alternative designs and sell them for crysta. I'm sure the amount of money they'd gain from that makes up for the cost to make the other designs, and everyone would be satisfied.

    Seriously SE, with all due respect to the design team and Yoshi-P, this is an iconic job that they've turned more into a novelty than anything to feel 'epic' about. I'm not talking about dmg because the job itself performs well, but it simply isn't the summoner we all know and love.

    People raised concerns during Beta and were told to wait to play the job before giving a ton of feedback. And now after people have really played the role you say too bad? Sad. C'mon guys. Keep listening to the community on this one.

    This is simply proven to be untrue. We've seen it for nearly a decade with FF11. The summoners summon full-on avatars and they haven't been game breaking.
    We want summoners who are SUMMONERS, not boring mini-fire guys. Summoners are one of the most iconic classes in the Final Fantasy series.

    FF11: Summoners can summon full avatars. They look nice and haven't "gotten in the way" or caused "considerable lag". Many of us have seen it for years first hand.
    FF14: Summoners are just kind of imp users that don't live up to their class name. Painting a carbuncle yellow and giving it defense boost instead of letting you summon Titan to be your tank is a cop out, if you ask me.
