On Monday, to see how the RMT banning is going, I tried deleting 6 names I blisted 3 weeks ago, and reported- soon as I zoned into Ul'dah from my room 5 of the 6 spammed me. The other showed up when I zoned to the MB. Needless to say I now just delete the (deleted) ones. Those RMTs are still there after 3 weeks! I am sorry for players that had their account hacked. If there was a way to know you have gotten it back, I will gladly remove your name, as you will no longer be a RMT spammer, but a fellow player. I look forward to that day too.

are you sure you can get your account back after being hacked?
i don't have a long blacklist (hence i'm on a JP server), but i realize that some of them have disappeared
i remember that i have at least 5 or 6 on my blacklist, but yesterday i only saw 2 left
did SE delete them or something?
Um...nope.

I never blacklist anyone for the exact reason OP mentioned. I did, however, get about ten tells over the course of today from someone who seemed to have a normal name. I was tempted to blacklist this person, but honestly more surprised that they weren't reported/suspended over the course of a very long day. It's pretty sad that the RMT spam is so rampant in this game... I mean, it exists in every MMO but I thought it would die down a little bit with time. I guess all the 'hacked' people are going to have to start grabbing security tokens (or smartphone apps) to put this to an end. I've heard of a few RARE cases where people with one-time security passwords are getting hacked, but it's far less frequent than when you have no token at all...
And by the way, to the people claiming it's ridiculous that you are getting hacked... There are scripts people used to 'crack' passwords. My WoW account was once hacked over two years after the last time I logged in. To make things even more interesting, I did not share my e-mail/login/password on that account with any other account I have. How a hacker got my password TWO YEARS after the last time I played (which was on a DIFFERENT computer entirely) is beyond me. It happens, though. So don't be so quick to judge.

All you people saying "I'll clear my blacklist when it says <Deleted>" are missing the point. People who recover their accounts after they've been compromised will never show up as Deleted, because they don't get deleted. They got their character back.
And it is their own fault for loosing it. Every single 'hacked account' story usually boils down to they didn't use 2-factor, are not using AdBlock or no script to protect their browsing, or download questionable programs.
You only get off my blacklist if it says <Deleted>. Period.
security token... Even if they have my account name and password won't mean a damn thing. I suggest if you've been hacked already you look into getting one.
Why would I remove someone who was hacked from a blacklist?
There is a chance that such a hacked person was buying gold or power leveling.
Then if I do not have them on ignore, I might sell them something, and then when square enix investigates them, they will see the transaction, and ban my account.

What I can't stand is getting spam shouted by somebody that's already SUPPOSED to be on my blacklist, and I have to remove it and put it back on again.
