Lightning FATE Trailer, What Do You Think?

Don't really care either way, FATE is broken and this one will be especially overrun. Foestriker's set > Snow/Lightning set any day.

13 was a horrible game anyway. Not sure about 13-2 as I haven't played it and would have to be sure it didn't suck as bad as the first before I even give it a chance.

Without vanity slots, these outfits will be pointless.

I don't think it's "fan service" to include lore from one of the least praised Final Fantasy in the series, that many of us actually consider not to be worthy of the name, let alone the genre; also considering anything from 4 to 12 would've been more appreciated by fans of the series. It looks much more like a marketing stunt to me, in order to promote "Lightning Returns".

In terms of game design, I think making it a FATE rather than an instanced event with a light/full party (a la Chimera/Hydra) is not a sound choice, for obvious "zerg" and "overcrowded" reasons that will pretty much ruin any immersion whatsoever. It's bound to be a rather shallow experience in these conditions.

But overall, I don't have anything against it. If some are happy with this, then more power to them. I just don't think it'll be a majority of players by any stretch of the imagination. If my FC is any indication, not one of us shows the slightest interest in this "event". Neither do I; I may perhaps see it one day if someone takes me there, but that's about it.

I think some other characters from Final Fantasy fit very much more into ARR's lore, like Magitek-related characters from FF VI, things pertaining III's Crystal Tower, crossovers between ascians and "Sin" from X, the Mako events from VII in regards to Gridania's take on nature, etc. Even from VII, if not Cloud himself, a ghostly-appearance of Aerith would've been so much more enticing for the fans.

I wonder who chose Lightning. I wager it's not Yoshida but the higher-up management who decided to use FF XIV to promote other games. Can't wait to see Disney characters to promote the next KH.

This event is supposed to start in 2.1. Unless they changed plans it will be the same time as vanity slots.

I got tired of those two crying all the time before I ever left the first area. The characters were the worst part of the game. The epitome of the FF standard and terribly bland.
