Duty Finder -> Switch class?

Very simple question, I just want to join as my main class then switch to another so I can level up. It seems that it will not let me switch once the duty finder finds a group. So am I screwed to do anything while waiting for duty finder?

This is very possible, I craft while waiting for the duty finder. After the duty finds a party you'll have to change back to the class enter.

You can change to a crafting class I believe - i'd say this is restricted by design, yeah. (As Kitya mentioned.)

If you're trying to enter as a different class then you queued as, then Kitya is correct. If you're trying to level a different class while you wait then you absolutely can. Just switch gear sets after you've queued.

Not switch in the instance, switch at the "commence" screen. As it is counting down, it would not let me go to my original class then hit commence.

EDIT: So crafting works huh? Perhaps I should suck it up and start knitting. I have a macro for Dragoon and Bard in my respective hotbars but it gave me some error message, not allowing me to switch o.O

Yeah, hence the edit. I derped because I'm working on heroic progression in WoW while foruming!

Anywho, you should be able to switch your class when the queue pops. I do it all the time, queue on my main class and then level a baby class for fun. I've never had issues with switching when it popped.

It's not just crafting. Several times I have applied to the duty finder as ACN, gone to do a SCH/SUM quest and when the duty commences I can join as soon as I change back to ACN.

So weird. Im trying to think maybe it had to do with an interaction with FATE's and level syncing then. Either way, thank you for the responses this has made my wait time far more manageable now.

Be sure you're not engaged in a menu like talking to an NPC, crafting, or using the marketboard. That'll block you from switching.
