    Pots and Pans (Food)!

Just a question to ask the community far and wide to see if anyone has done any testing on this.

I FFXI the use of foods was commonplace. I mean it was the #1 thing to have after gear (sometimes before gear).
Also certain content required you to use potions. Everyone in your party had to have some certain pot to be able to stand a chance in some scenarios.

But atm it seem 90% of the playerbase i run into don't seem to be bothering with them?

Has anyone done any testing into Elemental pots? I think there's a high quality Earth resistance pot that almost doubles your earth resistance as standard? (Correct me if im wrong).

How much effect does this have in titan!? Is that why so many people are struggling with certain things?! Are we not using all the tools available end game?

Especially for Coil. How much difference is made If your group has a Culinarian/Alchemist supplying the raid with boosts?

Anyone got any research on this?

    1) The elemental ward mega-potions only add +64 max, so that's nowhere near double your native resistance. I don't know how much the HQ adds, but I highly highly doubt it would shoot up to double native resistance.

    2) The elemental ward mega-potions only last 15 seconds, and (probably?) prevent you from using any other potion during the several-minute cooldown period. Unless you're popping one of these right before a very obvious scripted elemental move (Hellfire, etc.), then you're probably better off simply chugging a potion after you get hit.

    *I've not done Coil yet
**I've never tested these things either.

As for the rest of potions and food, I personally always have mega-potions/mega-ethers and a variety of food on me.

When I use DF, I see food on maybe about 10% of other people. I ALWAYS have food. I guess I just kept the 'meat mithkabob' 'Sole Sushi' mentality, while many others are just coming in form other games that don't require food.

Only 15 seconds?! Ewww. Maybe not the key then. Stuck at work atm so limited to quick research. Was wondeering off hand if anyone had tested but with only 15 second buff it unlikely.

I'm not saying no one carries food or pots but a lot of people don't seem to bother.

As far as the potions go, I can see them as a way to further reduce the damage from the primal's strongest attacks.

For food, the main problem lies in the difficulty to craft them combined with the small effect they provide. Gathering the materials takes no less time than creating a whole piece of armor (Oftentimes, even MORE time), and all the work crafts a single piece of food. Would you expect to pay more than you pay for your gear, just for a piece of food that lasts a mere 30 minutes (Less if you die)?

In addition, for all the time/gil spent, the stats are ones that folks don't care about much. They cared back in FFXI and 1.0 because most food was a direct, noticeable effect to your damage. Stuff like attack power, intelligence, or accuracy. All food in ARR boosts lesser priority stats, like skill/spell speed, crit rate, or accuracy (accuracy being not too necessary here). The only one that could be compared to the food of old is the food that boosts Determination, but even then it's a relatively minor effect (what is it, 6 determination equaling 1 of your main stat?). Really, the only folks who tend to care about food are crafters (As it's comparatively easy to hit the cap on stats from gear with it, and food is the only way to boost it further) and tanks (Because all food boosts vitality, in addition to the tank food boosting parry).
