If an inflexible engine is making revisions that takes days weeks, and weeks months, then yes, it's very much at fault.
But then it's the fault of those that designed an engine in the first place, because the goal of an engine is to facilitate all current and probably projects.
If crystal tools is making FF14 hard to program for, then the engineers clearly screwed up. The whole point of an engine is to be able to promote on it, not hinder it.
You can make a crappy engine but a good game, and a crappy game on a good engine, but the goals of the engine is pretty straight forward.


btw a dev post some time ago said that they're working on the "core engine" too.. Let's hope in bette optimization..

I wish we had DirectX 10 or 11 for Final Fantasy XIV, we already need powerful computers with graphic cards that support DirectX 10 so... why not?

It's already being designed with the PS3's custom OGL in mind, which as you know (maybe) is the other graphical standard around and pretty comparable to DX 10/11. When all is said and done and optimized, there's a good chance they'll have the atmosphere and visual design looking a lot better.
"Designed with future in mind." What does the future bring? PS4? All networks consisting of FiOS (fiber-optics). Plus countless other possible advancements and improvements. SE knows what they want. They just didn't choose the best route to get there. More than adequate computers for playing XIV will also become more common as time goes on. So relax. Always room for improvement.

Nothing was screwed up, it's simply a different architecture and some developers (mostly PC ones) simply chose to produce low quality ports then go QQ³ because they wanted to stay in their PC safety zone.

This is a myth, sure DX11 has facilities for HQ shadowing, AO, and tessellation is a great way not to waste processing power on objects that are too far. But overall DX11 is mostly eye candy and future proofing.
