Errrr. They gave nobody a chance. Literally it was a matter of asking a question...not getting an answer, asking it again...wipe, and they left after quickly responding. To be fair, Nanga, you didn't actually offer to help. You stated in your post that you intended to offer help, but all you actually verbalized to the person in question was interest in their experience and gear.
Doesn't sound like they were offended because you were offering help, it sounds like they were offended because they felt like they were getting the third degree.

After you giving me the Third about my gear and we wiped on trash accident or not. I wouldve left your ass too.

Asking someone if they are new is giving the third degree? Some people are extremely sensitive I guess. But I digress. I suppose that answers what was going on in their head.

No, asking someone if they new is not a problem, how you ask is the problem. I look at the original post and I have a problem with how it is worded. Clearly what you did was a gear check. You say they have so and so gear. Then you ask was they new, they didnt answer but you didnt leave it at that nope. You just had to keep asking to you got an answer and that is giving someone the third degree. As a tank I dont try to explain anything about a fight or how Im going to do it until we all standing at the boss fight and always start out this is how I going to do the fight and this is what I want you to do, and then ask if anyone have a better idea if not lets keep it moving.

Speaking in ineptitude,we where not there, we dont know how it was asked, nor do we know the entire conversation(s) that expired.
Its better not to asume either way.
Its not unthinkeble the new guy was.. the rude one nor is it unthinkeble he expected to be caried and blaming everyone else but himself that he did not get caried. Not saying that was the case, but its definately not unthinkeble.
New people are atleast as rude and as often as more seasoned players.
You dont like the way I do my job? I dont give a damn what you like, any of you.
If you are still alive and lance slinging a few years down the road,
and lucky enough to watch your family grow as you honor your oath.
Then you'll understand..
But getting old in my guild is a privilege.
We die so innocents dont, its that simple.
Once you pick up the lance, the life you lived stops being your own.

I see no issue with turning down an offer for help. If I wanted help/advice, I'd ask for it.
Call me a toxic player, but I genuinely think OP was being a bit pushy.
I usually start off the run by asking if anyone is new, if nobody speaks up, I tell them they better speak up now, because if I find anyone later who doesn't know the fights, I may become "unpleasant".
Don't forget EVERYONE is expected to have read all the guides watched all the youtube videos about every fight in the game before stepping in. So technically nobody should be new because they have already done the content in their heads.
The above sentence is what seems to be expected these days. I hate that fact. I buy games to play them. Not to learn how to beat the content before seeing it. It is like reading a spoiler sheet for a movie you are about to see.
Some people prefer the challenge of going in blind and then learning it for themselves,
People who run about claiming to be the best are just people who read everything before going in. The better players are the ones who did it blind then made the guides.
*cough* sorry.. i seem to have gotten a tad worked up. I must go eat my toast..
