Errrr. They gave nobody a chance. Literally it was a matter of asking a question...not getting an answer, asking it again...wipe, and they left after quickly responding. To be fair, Nanga, you didn't actually offer to help. You stated in your post that you intended to offer help, but all you actually verbalized to the person in question was interest in their experience and gear.
Doesn't sound like they were offended because you were offering help, it sounds like they were offended because they felt like they were getting the third degree.
Asking someone if they are new is giving the third degree? Some people are extremely sensitive I guess. But I digress. I suppose that answers what was going on in their head.
buying those for higher prices just shows ones stupidity. there's no higher gain attached to the allagan coins. I just buy all the vendor-priced ones to punish the seller (he loses 3-5% of the value, I just sell them at the same price to the vendor)I've also heard "leet players" tell people to never take anything in quest rewards other than the tokens for money (which it seems there is currently an exploit with, them and another item, notice how they are for sale on the market for much more than they vendor for?).
Don't take it as an exploit. Know that this is how gil traders move large amounts of money around.
Lucky you. I see it constantly while DFing in this game; I've never seen it be this bad anywhere else, actually - which is surprising considering the game's been out a month. Or people may not attack new players per se but they just up and leave;could you blame a DPS who had sat in the queue to get there for an ungodly amount of time for not wanting to wait even more? It doesn't excuse the reaction the OP got but it does explain it.
if you can multiply them, I can't see the logic here. it's not like the vendors have finite amounts of gil like some other games do. it just feels hilarious to see people selling coins on the market since the markets are taxed and vendors are not.
It very well could be. I just don't understand how the game has already got to this point. Someone asks if you're new, and automatically get defensive by responding with insults and immediately leaving...without even asking why someone wants to know, or even giving people a chance to explain why they are asking.
Just because someone asks if you're new...doesn't mean they're about to attack you. Folks want to know, so you aren't blindsided by a tank that starts boss fights and you don't know what's going on. That's when people get mad. Best to speak up beforehand![]()
this didn't happen to me yet, but when it does - I'll just go to the dungeon entrance and leave the instance. I can wait, despite being a DPS *I have my supply missions and leves to do too*. I heard a lot of horror stories about DF in late game, so at least spiritually, I'm prepared. *now to level my crafting to high enough level to repair my stuff myself, sigh*
I usually start off the run by asking if anyone is new, if nobody speaks up, I tell them they better speak up now, because if I find anyone later who doesn't know the fights, I may become "unpleasant".
