Titan is too forgiving to be worth a relic

I think there's a serious problem with how easy it is to finish a Titan kill with 3+ people dead after heart. Just being able to survive past heart and then promptly dying should not effectively count as a win for your relic. I don't think the challenge was supposed to be "find 5 people who can live and then watch them win for you." I don't mind helping people, at all, but I'm not a fan of people obtaining a relic by lying in the dirt for phase 5.

The 1.0 quest wasn't like this. You couldn't do your dungeon speedruns with 3 people dead for half the run. You had to beat Garuda with 0 deaths. You might limp to victory on Ifrit Extreme with 3 people dead at the very end but anyone who did it knows that the bigger obstacle was the final nail phase, which was much more difficult than Titan's Heart and was most certainly not 5mannable.

I sort of agree that people shouldn't be carried through the last half of the fight. But on the flip side of that same coin, it is way too difficult to find a group worth of people who can get the job done.

And that's NOT a problem with players. It's a problem with the design of the fight. All he does is fire off one-shot kills over and over, and the slightest screw up or lag will leave someone dead. On top of that, both the heart phase and the tumults are a big gear check. Either all 8 members of your team are very well equipped, or it's not happening.

Finally is the class requirements. You need a paladin tanking and one of the healers to be a WHM. Taking a warrior in at all is gimping your team. Taking two SCH for healing is gimping your team, because their absorb buff doesn't stack. If you don't go in the fight with a Paladin and WHM, you are already putting your group into the ballpark of "this might not be possible".

No matter how I look at it, the Titan fight is a messy design and needs a big polishing pass from the developers.

I wouldn't call it messy - well not in the figurative sense, it's more of a fight that sees who can:

    A. Pay attention
    B. Know how to dodge
    C. Know their jobs (rotations..rotations..rotations.)
    D. Geared their jobs.

Yes people will be new to it, but that's no excuse to not know your jobs by time you hit 50 or at least attempted to gear yourself prior to it. It's messy when you have people who literally just STAND in Plumes or run into bombs - 9/10 you'll be paired with people who know the fight, so just follow them on bomb phases. It's honestly the perfect "do you know how to play?" check in this game, with Coil being the "are you exceptional?" check. Yes, people love to say this fight is laggy, but in all the times I did titan for relics and just for weapons for non relic'd jobs..no one blames lag, just themselves when they screw up.

I couldn't care less about the loot. But, when I was your age, I walked 10 miles in the snow two ways barefoot and naked, and I liked it. Some of the comments make it sound like that player is the .01% who has mastered the game and that they should be the only ones allowed to play it. I think those people should be playing chess on hardmode and solving Rubic's cubes instead of playing and griping about "how easy" an MMO is.

For a lot of people Titan is still difficult. I mean even Garuda is hard for some people. If you DF Garuda you will find only 1/5 or 1/6 succeed. I imagine our relics will be upgradable or we will get new version that will require more time and effort. I think this was just kind of a starting point. I think the term "relic" has a connotation from XI, but I don't think we should equate our current relics to the end all be all of weapons. Sure they are the best at this point, but somehow I do not think that will last.

    This.
The fights in this game are pattern based. Figure that out you will never wipe again.

5 stacks of Weight forming a fat corridor on one character is messy. The ground strip attack going off right before bombs and its smoke effect making it impossible to see when the bombs go off in p5 is messy. The limited camera zoom making it where I--a healer--have limited view of everything that's going on (even though it's my job to see the whole thing at all times)--is messy. Casting the pound and being triggered for the massive AOE during is messy. This fight, to some degree, is RNG.

Personally I found healing Titan easier than DPS'ing it.

That mechanic described every fight in the game. Spam a one trick pony. I just did the Whm 30 quest and silkscreen over and over as you run in a circle avoiding it. The only question is, will they spam a radial, an asian fan or a tunnel AoE special. I can say as a caster it makes me feel pretty useless at times.

I am not saying it's hard. It's just messy. In my opinion. Maybe I just haven't figured out the best tactic for dealing with those components.
