    Coil Lockouts: Horrible System

Completing Turn 2 of the Binding Coil of Bahamut should not lock me out of doing Turn 1 if I haven't done it yet this week. That's a horrible system.

A much better alternative is to have each Turn have its own lockout timer. The idea of only being able to access Turn 2 once you've done Turn 1 is fine (or being carried in by your party leader, also fine). But being locked out of Turn 1 because you did Turn 2? That's just stupid.

Don't know what you are complaining about, but that's how raid locks work in any other MMORPG out there? For a raiding FC that means you can either do all the locks chronologically to farm the gear or you can borrow a raid lock from someone else to directly work on a specific turn. I don't see the issue here.

Why is this system the way it is (not only here, but in other MMOs as well)? Well, usually a raid will be contained in one big instanced area without being able to start every turn on its own in a separate area. Therefore to be able to even reach the second boss (call it lock #2 or turn 2 or whatever you like) you would have to kill Boss 1 first. After that you received a raid lock to save your progress that made sure that when you re-enter the dungeon all of the part up to the first boss and first boss itself was already cleared (hence no chance to redo turn/lock 1). Just because the different parts of the coil are in their own instanced areas, that doesn't mean that the system should be changed. Just think of a regular dungeon, you won't ever ask to be able to directly start with the final Boss and then go back to the second boss afterwards, would you? Raids are no different than regular dungeons, except for that they are bigger and consume more time, therefore the raid locks are in place to give players a possibility to save their progress (so they can continue on another day without having to start from scratch). That's the whole point of raid locks, they are not meant to cheat the system and play turns in any order you see fit, otherwise they wouldn't even need to be different turns of the same raid, it would just be separate dungeons without any interconnection between them.

I really don't see you arguing your case very well here. You're saying it's stupid and you're saying it's horrible, but not once do you say why. I get that you don't like the way it works, probably because you don't have a steady group to do it with, but that doesn't make it stupid.

Locking is to prevent people from farming the instance. I agree with that and it's the only good part of the system...which can also be made oh idk...if you're on Turn 4, you get nothing (or maybe some philo/myth tokens) for redoing Turns 1-3.

What I don't agree with is...you can't help anyone. You're in an FC and have active members count that isn't divisible by 8...what do? And if u have divisible by 8...do you have 2/2/4 ratio of jobs (will become irrelevant I guess when ppl have multiple jobs)? Basically you always have to dick around with exact number of people and jobs. Great system.

This is the system most all MMO's have, except for WoW now, and it only took them what 9 years to implement this feature and iirc, it's only in Raid Finder.
