I believe that over an entire server community, leves are a sufficient faucet. Triple turn ins with HQ items result in lots of gil, as well as items, sometimes including a high number of shards. I don't play everyday, so my leves pile up. I can do a simple triple turn in (hi-potions or chamomile tea for example) a bunch of times in a matter of minutes... which gives me gold to blow on the market board. The difference between you and me is you are seeing it from the here and now perspective.
I'm forward thinking. So far the best I have seen in the LeveQuest is around 3K per point in rewards and leve points are fixed on a daily basis. You can add that to the pile but for making gil unrestricted you need a faucet and there are none. There are better faucets, so to speak. Gsm can sell by stack and make a boat load of gil. Shard requirements are going to make that misery in the making.
I haven't even intentionall attempted to earn gil from the markets or leves, I've only been trying to level my classes (11 classes lv 25+), and I have over 200k without trying, an overflowing inventory, and nearly the cap on leves. Based on that, the long term perspective I see is an inflated economy with easy faucets.
For someone who raids a lot and has high repair bills, and buys from the market boards it might seem the opposite. Based on some of the data I saw in another MMO's player's levels and progression I believe there will be MANY more players acting as faucets (earning gil from leves and quests) like me.
Unlikely. In FFXI every character could play every class and that didn't happen. Mostly because people didn't craft due to it being such a monumental pain to level crafting.the 1st mistake Se made is that every character can max all classes.. they should have made it into choice's. all gathering classes , 2 or 3 max crafting classes and also 2 or 3 max jobs/classes.
Since everyone can do everything.. the market will sooner or later crash when there's no need anymore for crafters.. because we can all make it ourself.
Fact is, some people will simply never ever craft. They don't like it and just don't want to do it. They'd rather pay someone else to do it for them. I craft because I enjoy it. Not to make gil.
If they've made a mistake with FFXIV it's in making it too easy to level crafting and not making it rewarding enough to do so.
I have 8 classes of crafting at lvl 35~38. Its very easy lvl up them at the same time. I have always HQ equip and I can craft materials from one class to another, so I don't waste money on markets. Also I have all cross skills.
After one month and a half, I have 1M of gils just selling armours, weapons and jewelry. (no materials, materias or craft/ghater equip).
Weaver can make some decent money, They have a huge amount of crafting AF gear that they can make, and with the right skills, you can HQ them 90% of the time with basic materials (Hint all you need is carpenter 50, and culinarain 37). You can't flood the market with one item, but instead you put up a lot of different items, usually ranging in the 10-15k profit margins per craft (on my server at least), which adds up when you are making 10 things a night, and selling them overnight. Nothing amazing, but it's a solid source of income.
You would probably find fishing the better DoL. You level up much faster, and even at it's worst you can sell the fish to NPCs for more than you can regular mats. The Leves are helpful too. Min and Bot are a bore - bang-banging away for very little exp, little worth much to sell and the Leves aren't so good for those either.
My real issue with the in-game economy is the restrictive inventory - I am sure it is causing an artificial market flood. There are plenty of things I would have rather kept, and certainly wasn't interested in selling at their piddling prices (either on the market, or to an NPC), but in the end you are forced to capitulate just to get inventory space back.
Probably Goldsmith as everyone needs accessories. armorer is highly unlikely as only some people can equip it and not everyone needs it. DOM classes have no use for armorer at all and some DOW can only equip leather making for less potential customers. Just bear in mind what they want you to do for profit is to use a miner to gather ore and smelt it into ingots to sell to the 50 Goldsmiths. Takes a lot of time and patience to get there so it's not for everyone.
For big money Weaver,Gold,Leather and make double star stuff (Only HQ). For smaller but constant money Blacksmith,Armor,Weaver,Leather and make tool's, crafting gear etc. Kinda pointless are Culinary (spelling xD) alchemy (Only did it to cook/potions myself). If i'm wrong on something please let me know![]()
