I'm sorry, I just think this is completely absurd. Your "faucet" will never be turned on. The amount of gil you get from the main quest and leves are the faucets, and they vastly exceed what an armor could do. The only way your scenario comes into play is if SE removes all of the gil from the game, remove stored leves from the game, and everyone raids so much it consumes all of their profit. I forsee 0/3 of those things happening.

I have made very little attempt to earn gil, and I have found very little need for gil other than repairs, and transportation and I have 140,000 gil. No, I'm not rich... but there's been nothing I need that I can't buy. From a single player / leveling perspective, I'd say gil is too easy to come by. Yes, there's some rediculous undercutting going on, but it seems like you want huge inflation? Most items can be sold on the AH for more than vendors pay. Some items can be bought for less than vendors charge.

The difference between you and me is you are seeing it from the here and now perspective.
I'm forward thinking. So far the best I have seen in the LeveQuest is around 3K per point in rewards and leve points are fixed on a daily basis. You can add that to the pile but for making gil unrestricted you need a faucet and there are none. There are better faucets, so to speak. Gsm can sell by stack and make a boat load of gil. Shard requirements are going to make that misery in the making.

Market Board is NOT a faucet. trading gil for stuff is NOT a faucet. It might make you rich but it is not a faucet. Eventually Market boards will die. Nothing will be in demand. We are all inclusive characters. You said so yourself, you don't need gil. You do of course. You want to teleport places, you need to repair. You will see what I mean when you run up to the mending NPC at 50 and your wallet takes a hit every time.

Sargatanas right now is selling HQ Linen Deerstalkers on Market board for 8K each. They started at 20K. The level 40 3/3 turn in is a Linen Deerstalker. In a month the price of 300,000 exper for a weaver has gone down 60%. Buying a Level 50 DoH will be cheaper and cheaper as fewer people are left to do it. It will in time get to a point where nothing will sell for any amount of gill. Trade will die off. Faucets will become the only way to make gil.

Horde your gil is all I can say. You are going to need it.

Of course prices are fluctuating right now. The game JUST came out. People are still pushing classes to 50, things are moving fast and niches are being filled. SE isn't addressing the market right now because (rightly so) it hasn't settled yet.

Why would you spend your time working a 'faucet' anyway? Its bloody community service. Look out for yourself- make money on the market and make as much as you can. Only work a faucet when profits come down so far that its the best sell. If the market breaks because of inflation/deflation then its up to SE to fix the problem. Players shouldn't be sinking a hundred hours into a gil-source to save the economy.

Profitable crafting means get good at HQ-ing equipment and look at the market board before you make it. See a profitable opening, make an HQ item and drop it on the market.

I believe that over an entire server community, leves are a sufficient faucet. Triple turn ins with HQ items result in lots of gil, as well as items, sometimes including a high number of shards. I don't play everyday, so my leves pile up. I can do a simple triple turn in (hi-potions or chamomile tea for example) a bunch of times in a matter of minutes... which gives me gold to blow on the market board.

I haven't even intentionall attempted to earn gil from the markets or leves, I've only been trying to level my classes (11 classes lv 25+), and I have over 200k without trying, an overflowing inventory, and nearly the cap on leves. Based on that, the long term perspective I see is an inflated economy with easy faucets.

For someone who raids a lot and has high repair bills, and buys from the market boards it might seem the opposite. Based on some of the data I saw in another MMO's player's levels and progression I believe there will be MANY more players acting as faucets (earning gil from leves and quests) like me.
