What I have an issue with is the people who buy gil and in turn use it to buy gear such as relic. It's essentially making the game p2w even if its not intended or allowed.

If they find a good way to get rid of rmt then I do not care. If people who spent a lot of time actually earning their gil is paying for services then so what? They earned the gil and so does the people helping him. It's just smart unconventional ways of earning gil imho.

How about when someone throws on scrubs, dresses up the kids in dirty clothing, grabs a cardboard sign and goes to the street corner for 2 hours to "plz halp husband fired, losing home" and makes 500$ then goes home to their penthouse, calls the nanny for the kids then goes clubbing? Sounds legit?

How bout the guy that pays 500$ to drive the stolen $12,000 car? sounds legit also right?

You can make your case sound as noble as you want, but there are always more then one light it can be seen in.

Why should these players waste countless hours of their time (and money) trying to kill titan when they can pay a group to kill it for them in under 30 minutes?

Such a transaction should not be frowned upon it should be encouraged. The master crafter who spends his days honing his technique may not have the experience to kill titan nor a group of friends willing to carry him through it. However, he may have an excess of gil and if he is willing to peddle his wares in exchange for gil, why should he not be allowed to pay a group of mercenarys to kill a mob for his relic?

If you still think this is wrong, then I am left to wonder, who are you to judge what others choose to do with their hard earned gil?
Tell you what, as soon as you can prove statements are true each time you are selling a run, then I don't think people will have a problem.

However next time you sell a run, and you notice the player is wearing AF, with NQ quest accessories, and on the lodestone you they only have one other class unlocked and it's only lv 15... maybe you should start to "be left to wonder" where the gil they are paying for their relic is coming from.

But hey, if you all are doing proper background checks, I have no problem with you turning your skills into cash, but don't try and use some BS crap like what you posted above "MAYBE SOME ARE crafters that have no time to blah blah blah."

    Ya... right.

It's noble when players take the cause in their own hands and do background check but it can't be expected if them. Too many people dont care and its up to square enix to ensure that the player environment is a legit and fun one. There will always be exploiters, its up to se to stop them, not us.

What if you're a WAR playing solo while waiting for the server switch that should've been there two weeks ago ?
Shout PUG ? Nope. Nobody will accept a WAR. After 30h+ I got accepted into one shout pug, and it turned out they were all severely undergeared. What's left ? DF. How it happens in duty finder ? You get in, you try it once, then people leave.
As said, I've spend 30h+ doing nothing but trying Titan. I know the fight, it's not a problem. I can hold hate. There was that time where everyone got hit by pretty much anything and the WHM spammed (literaly) medica II ALL THE TIME . Even then, I kept aggro on Titan with my Ifrit axe.
After 30h+ of me being frustrated because I knew the fight but got stuck with people that were either bad or unwilling to learn and being rejected of every single shout PUG because of my job, I decided I wasn't going to waste more time and I bought a Titan run. Farmed 200k when tome mat were only selling for 10k. That took me a shtload of time and effort.
Ran this "carry", did not died. I deserve my Bravura. I'm between 120 and 150 DPS on bosses /w defiance while I have crappy acc, never lost hate to anyone and never died as long as I was getting some heal.
I know how to play my job well and deserve my relic. How I got it after 30h+ of puging it through DF and 25 CM to pay for it is irrelevant.

    Case and point.

A majority of the players my linkshell has run through titan have this same issue. They know the fight, they aren't bad, they can avoid mechanics, and some even live to the end. They are, no doubt, pulling their weight and contributing to the fight to the best of their abilities. The money players pay us if for our time spent, not only on the win itself but the hours of practice we had to go through to get a competent group of 7+ players that can consistently kill titan with ease.

    Grats on your relic btw.

Nothing wrong with mercenary service. In fact, these kind of things should be encouraged, in FFXI we also had people selling teleport service and (much less popular) warp 2 services. Some people just did quests so they could sell scrolls on the market.

It's another way to make gil if you don't like to craft, farm or play economy with the market board.
