    Dragoon gearing for Coil - Darksteel melds worth it?

    I recently finished my Dragoon off in terms of "tomes". I have my Gae Bolg+1 and full Darklight.

    I'm currently on turn 1 (Free company is about to start with the coil), and currently the stat I'm worried about is my Accuracy. I have 455 ACC, and someone in my FC said you need 450 (He hasn't leveled a DPS yet). I've also seen the number 470 thrown around here, usually in terms of later turns.

    So I'm not quite there. I want to look into further progression of gear revolving around HQ Darksteel/melding. I'm unsure what the stat caps are on melding materia and how it involves iLvl70 Darksteel. Outside of picking up Allagan/AF2 body, what should I focus on for my dragoon?

    Is it usually capping primary stats per item and then going for secondary?

    Any insight into gearing up DRG past darklight, but before BiS is much appreciated.

    darksteel stat cap=base stats for darklight in that same item slot from my experience.

    example - darklight chest has 20 str 18 det - that's stat cap for your darksteel chest. it's ilvl based in a way i suppose. i'd recommend grabbing the chest and putting 1-2 accuracy materia on it, and then try to max out the DET (you'll need tier 4 for that)

    regarding coil, you'll miss like.. 2-3% of the time with 450ish acc - that's not good, because drgs are so chain dependent, and even 1 miss is pretty bad. you want to aim for 460-470. supplement with food until your base acc is high enough for 100% hit rate.

    dragoon allagan chest drops in turn 1, so you run the risk of being sad that a slight upgrade dropped if you decide to go for darksteel chest. regardless, i'd go for that since an HQ darksteel chest basically can have something like 12~18 acc and 27 crit rate over a darklight chest. boots/hat only really gives you crit and skill speed compared to darklight, so it's not a huge upgrade. i'd probably go for darksteel chest, and then go for darksteel belt/gryphonskin accessories depending on your budget (chest=least expensive, darksteel belt/gryphonskin stuff=2250 or so tomes worth of mats per craft)
