Whats more messed up is that the boat costs as much as the airship to use. It's supposed to be convenience that comes with a cost, not the other way around.

I loved the airship and boat rides, why not have both? If people are in a hurry let them teleport. If they're not in a hurry, give them their ride. Have pirates attack the ships again, introduce sky pirates![]()
Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend. He was so deadly, in fact, that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness!
It doesn't matter if YOU personally don't socialize, the fact is there aren't enough situations to socialize in this game. Long boat rides, airship rides, waits, etc, give you an opportunity to socialize, which this game GREATLY lacks. They've taken out so many features that make us depend on others, talk to others, make friends, or just sit around chatting with randoms we see while doing boring waits to pass the time(which is how you make some great friends) just to make everything more "Accessible" and less time spent.
Things like needing a WHM to port you, needing someone to come raise you, needing a BLM to warp2 you, needing people to open doors/gates for you, just tons of things you did everyday required you to interact with another human being. All of that was taken away to make the game more accessible, quick, easy, and soloable.
Was it for the better? That's for you to decide, for my personally, though, I think it's for the worse and enjoyed making new friends all the time to adventure, level, chat, and play with.
There just isn't enough situations in the game that give me an incentive or need to socialize to get something done, and that is a very bad thing in my opinion.

I do not necessarily agree with disabling the boats and airships..but I do think they need to make it like FF11. Personally, I think they should run on set schedules(meaning I have to wait for it to physically arrive in the city where I want to catch a ride) and those are the only times when you can board them and then it should take 10 minutes or so to make it to the destination..rather than this instant travel that we currently have..oh and they should do away with the teleport..or severely limit its use to say once or twice every 24 hours (and make it even more expensive).
Personally, I think its a little dull to be able to tele around or insta travel on airships/boats at will and have no penalty at all. This may also help slow the game down a little and make it a little more difficult to power level your characters.

There needs to be more IN GAME commuincation, I mean honestly. Ive hardly had to interact with much of anyone thus far, ofc im only lvl 26 atm but still..
aaaaaaaaaaaa fishing up monsters and wipe everyone on the ship............. old times... old times... i miss it...
You know what? just stop your incessant and mindless bitching.Yes I want to force you to travel, so that perhaps the Fantasy MMO focused on role-playing would actually feel like such. I know you guys are more than likely FF13 kids, but at one point Final Fantasy was the type of game you played for depth and attachment. Not a pretty version of wow, with less depth. Ff11 was a good representation of that. A bit to grindy yes, but social interaction, achievment, awe, mystery that game actually had some. Simple things like waiting 5 mins to ride a boat, or having to actually go to a instance to enter it. Make the game a game, not a spamy grind-fest,
Know why Fates are spammed so easily because of teleporting. Travel time in a world this small is important, if it was on scale with say WoW then yes, teleporting and gryphons are needed. FF has no content, and simple time sinks and fluff is needed. Forced. not optional Forced.
Most of you replying will quit in a few weeks anyways due to ADHD or whatever your mom blames it on.

I thought it was okay when leveling through the first time using the main quests. It showed me around the world and got me exploring. After that however the game might as well be a hubgame. There is nothing in the world to explore after you ding 50 so yeah I agree, I hope they make use of the world they have made in many different ways.
If people like all this mindless time sink then SE should probably just put in an RP server and everyone that enjoys this stuff can just go there. If you have a lot of free time then sure why not but don't pull the rest of us with you in your open timetables.
