Legacy and CE box - incompatible?

Here's the situation. Had FFXIV account ever since since the original 2010 release, bought A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition box a couple of weeks back. While it's totally gorgeous, I've found out it's impossible to activate digital bonuses on an existing account that way. To get in-game items in addition to physical goodies from the box, I'd have to buy a separate digital upgrade. Which is just insane.

I've had a chat with support and sent them an e-mail afterwards, but the answer was always the same - return your CE box to retailer, then buy digital upgrade. Well I don't want to do that, I like my CE just fine, I just want what all the new people are getting - the full set of bonuses without paying extra.

I've made this thread in hopes of attracting the attention to this ridiculous situation. Only veteran players are getting this kind of treatment, and it mustn't be allowed to go on. Also, maybe someone found some kind of solution - if so, by all means do share.

You sure my friend had no problem adding the CE items to his Legacy account.

In order for it to have worked it would have needed be the PS3 CE Box. PC version won't work, you'd need to do the digital upgrade to get the digital items.

You can't add a PC version CE to your existing 1.0 account. S-E warned people multiple times for it. You can only do the following things:

- Buy PS3 CE -> link PS3 with existing 1.0 account
- Upgrade to digital CE

How exactly did they warn? I didn't see any warnings. Did they give any reasoning? No sane person could come up with this kind of system. Even for SE, this is just evil.

Ah, that explains it. I bought the PS3 CE. Though I never heard any warnings about buying the PC edition.

Harder to find the info. now that the PC Collectors can't really be bought anymore (there was an official post on this at one point) but -

Okay, that really sucks. Gonna have to sell my CE code off and buy digital upgrade, then. Still, why would they setup their system this way? It just doesn't make any freaking sense.
