Or make it a channeled ability? Super powered but completely precludes any other action for the duration/until canceled? I'm sure there's lots of tweaks to balance that one.
Good to know my addled brain didn't just make up the Class names thing.
Channeling was talked about earlier in the thread but concluded it would be a hard thing to do in XIV. If you have it require permanent casting like other games then you run into the problem of XIV being a high movement game. There are various ways you could do it but it would still have to suffer a consequence or not be able to be maintained often due to its shear strength (imagine using it on a BRD during a speed run for instance). I could see either giving such a spell either a long recast or applying a determination down buff on the user similar to how Berserk does with Pacification or even both depending on the strength of the TP regeneration.
All job ideas are so amazing hope they get put in
When i was still on FFXI i wanted GEO sooo bad only took 10 years+ to get it in ... sadly the gimped it bad. GEO in its glory (FFT) was the more well rounded job in the game. AoE magic that had added effects with decant range and the fact they could use most weapons/armor. I see it more as a 30MRD/GLA/15THM. FFT there primary weap was axe so i think MRD would be main job. Totally diggin your ideas dude keep it up <^.^>
P.S.
Props to all the sam players in ffxi, Sam could tank or DD since it was way easier to keep hate with dmg. Since the lvl cap should be rising soon 30GLD/30LNC (for the fact sam could use a lance ) slow att spd high crit. Id love to see Nin ( not a tank job .... lazy whm's >.> ) with utsu at 25% to absorb dmg and ni 50% Mumble overpoweredlogtrick mumble. Scythe would rock for drk again GS is cool too. side note someone said drk could tank, yes... about 45 sec before the pt kicked you and /laughed at your dead body or the whm would /blist afk when you voked <^.^>;;

Due to popular demand I've included the way I would branch THM into a healer via the Time Mage. It's not perfect as far as numbers go and will be tweaked some but the general idea is there. Expensive heals, powerful HoT's and shields that heal the recipient when they take damage are the basic make-up. They'd maintain their HoT's and shields on the group while their MP refreshes in UI. These two forms of healing should take care of most of the damage but when dangerous attacks come they can pair them with normal heals with about the strength of a WHM's. These heals come with a high cost though so can't be maintained the whole time. They'd essentially function very much like a SCH's Lustrate. Thundercloud's low proc chance of 5% would give them the chance at a really big heal in place of using Fire spells as well should they proc.

I am going to go ahead and call a Fencer class, turning into Blue Mage and Red Mage jobs. First, Fencer became rdm in the original ff game, and both rdm and blu use a sword in xi, so it makes sense.
I'm still of the mind that Mystic Knight and Red Mage will come from the Fencer and I think Blue Mage and Beastmaster would make an interesting pairing from the Flayer class (both have been a whip users and deal with monsters). Both classes with their job outlines are in my signature if you'd like to see my ideas on it![]()

Except RDM and BLU have nothing to do with one another. One is a sword&magic hybrid, the other is a guy that learns monster magic.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
In the first Final Fantasy game, Red Mage becomes a Red Wizard. You may be referring to the FF Tactics Advance games where it generally goes Fencer → Red Mage.
If you look further than FFXI into Blue Mage's history you'll come to learn that Blue Mage came in different varieties.
- FFV - Blue Mage uses knives swords or rods
- FFVI - Strago's weaponry was limited to daggers, rods, and mace.
- FFVII - Blue Magic came in the form of the Enemy Skill Materia
- FFVIII - Quistis' main weapons were whips.
- FFIX - Quina used forks for weapons.
- FFX - Kimahri used polearms.
- FFX-2 - Guns. The class here was referred to as Gun Mage
- FFXI - BLU used swords primarily.
- FFTA(I&II) - Blue Mage used Sabers.
I would love to see other jobs work their way into FFXIV, but the one thing I desperately want is BST....SMN proves that having a pet will work just fine in battle, I cant see it being difficult to incorporate BST into it. The thing I loved about BST in FFXI was being able to solo damn near everywhere, granted that's not really an issue in this game, and I AM glad of that fact, it would just be nice to be able to be a BST again. And if I cant have that, please, please, please, let them bring in THF..
