Cannot stay connected: "An error has occured on the game server. (30002)"

    Details:
I am attempting to return to FFXIV after quitting several months ago. I re-installed and am fully updated, but find that I am unable to stay connected to the game for more than a few minutes at max. I did not have any problems before I quit.

    Steps:
    1. Log in.
    2. Wait between 10 seconds and 2 minutes. During this time the game plays fine: I can chat, I can interact with NPCs, I can interact with my inventory, change linkpearls, and change abilities and equipment.
    3. "An error has occured on the game server. (30002)"

Date & Time: I have tried to play morning, day, and night PST. I cannot stay connected regardless of time.

    Frequency: Always.

    Platform: PC

PC Manufacturer & Model Number: Homebuilt.

    Operating System: Windows 7

    Graphics Card: Radeon HD 5870 x 2

    ISP: Shaw Cable

    Type of Internet Connection: Cable

    Character Name: Shimazu Takahisa
    Race: Roegadyn
    World: Wutai

I can play other games without any trouble. I have entirely disabled my windows firewall, and I have forwarded the ports that I believe FFXIV makes use of on my router. I'm running out of ideas.

I am having the same issue. But it's an issue that has been on and off for the past couple days that I've been playing. Just today it got so bad that I cannot go more than 5 minutes without the error 3002 appearing and booting me off. I've disabled my firewall, connected my computer directly to the modem. My internet is running fine, for everything, even other MMO games. What is the issue?

some, better said a lot of modems can get chocked out by the large packets the game throws around. You may want try buying a better higher end router, or go wrought i did and set up a smoothwall firewall set up by using a older pc you can read about it here http://www.smoothwall.org/ it takes a lot of time to set up though, plus droping your firewall and pluging in to your modem is a bad idea because its asking to be hacked and attacks are more common then you think the average pc gets attack thrown at it once or twice a day most blocked by your standard firewalls so your asking for trouble doing what your doing

Oh no, I wasn't planning on keeping my firewall down, or keeping my computer connected to the modem, I was simply trying to identify the root of my issue. Atm, I've reconnected my computer back to the router and reestablished my Firewall. But lately, I've been reading that the issue may be insufficient Modems that can't handle the packets. So, I checked my modem, and to be honest, it looks like a piece of trash. >.< but that's Korea for you, everything's so cheaply made.

I'm planning on buying a new router, but I'm not sure if that will solve my problem if the issue lies with the modem though, right? If the modem can't handle the package-load, then by the time it reaches the router the packets would have already been tossed.

As long as you have a current router around 1-2 years old at best, it is not always the router. It is the way that the game handles the packets. A good "N" router will be your friend, and they do not have to be expensive.

Tha being said, we have four computers active on our internet, and when 2 are on the game, we can see increased drops. Very frustrating
