I think this perfectly shows me the blurred lines of the definitions people talk about.
I consider myself Medium-hardcore because I am endgame focused and spent many hours playing but at the same time

I don't let it determine my schedule
    I don't take it seriously
I definitely don't rage when DF or ANY team goes badly
I have no desire to be better than others, but (and probably where medium-core comes in) are driven to improve myself to the top I can.

It's awesome how with the titles of casual or hardcore people throw around 2 people can be so similar and yet play differently.

    Good post man. +1

OK. So, nobody either have a clue what a casual is or there are like twenty different definations of the term Casual Player. On a side note just because someone plays 5 or 6 hours and "Accomplish Nothing" as someone put it doesnt mean they are bad players. Just maybe, they have different agenda then what you call getting things "Accomplish" also over a hour wait time as my Monk and 50 secs to 5 minutes on my tank see the difference.

It has nothing to do with how much time is spent in game or what you do in real life (not sure why people keep telling us what they do, we dont care) but it has to do with how much content deemed end game you have completed. You could have every class to level 30 but that makes zero difference if you have no end game content completed.

Honestly the problem with this game its too easy and people can pretty much have all the end game content just buy running AK a million times. So by the time you are halfway through the patch and the next patch isn't coming for another 1.5 months everyone has the same gear as you. While in other MMOs just to get a full set before the next patch came out took work. Not just oh.. Ill run AK 7 times a week and within 5 weeks I will have all the end game gear.

Casual is a pretty broad term. Many people have their own definitions and it really depends on the person using the word. An example would be someone who rushed to the end-game content and has all the best gear for the current patch might use the term as a form of insult to anyone else who didn't do the same. A person who only has time to play the game maybe 8 hours a week total might use it to it's most literal definition.

I personally see the term casual as someone who has time to play, but has decided to not devote all their time in the game to the end-game content. I don't really see someone who plays casually being in a top FC on their server or in the world. A casual player, to me, is someone who could play the game for 8 hours a day and just enjoy the game or they could be someone who can only play an hour a day and still enjoy the game. It really depends on the person.

If it's not your second day job, you're casual.

If you had to choose between a million dollars and saving your best friend...what would be the first thing you'd buy?

    /agree

Casual = The game doesn't dictate when you can play. You may however have cleared most of end game, with spare time.

Hardcore = Semi rigid schedule in game, i.e. raid from 7 - 10 every 2nd day. Committing ahead of time to a regular schedule with a pre-determined goal.

I play for fun, I consider myself casual. However, I play a lot, some say that's hardcore.

    Maybe I'm softcore.

The definition of "casual" varies depending on who you talk to.

For some people it's an outright insult, a label they use to make themselves feel more superior.

To others, it's a badge of honor indicating they "have a life."

Personally, I consider someone a "casual" if they aren't at the bleeding edge of progression. I don't consider this a "bad" thing, however, nor does "casual" indicate "unskilled." In every MMO I've ever played, there's been a wide range of skills throughout the different "ranks" of raiders. There are some extremely skilled players who simply don't want to dedicate the time required of being a hardcore raider, and some rather unskilled players competing in top guilds. So...
