Making the Faery Work (it's not easy)

Here's the best solution I've come up with. I'd like to hear yours.

Steady is the key. When the faery is in Steady, she will only cast embrace. Here's the problem, though: If you instruct the faery to use an ability, it drops her out of Steady and into Guard mode, where she'll start using abilities again. However, it is beneficial to ask your Faery to use Embrace, as there are many times when someone is between 71-99% health and you'll want the extra boost. For this to work, you must hit Steady after every command.

I have Steady hotkeyed to X, personally. Each exchange looks like this (for example):

    1) Cast Rouse
    2) Cast Whispering Dawn
    3) Cast Steady
    4) Cast Succor

If there were some way to macro your pet's abilities, I could create a rough solution to this by adding /petaction Steady at the end of every pet ability I wanted to activate, so it would reset. However, to my knowledge, there's no way to set pet abilities to a macro.

Also, I have had no luck with Obey. I don't usually target enemies when I'm in a group, as I use the tactic of macroing my abilities to my target's target. This allows me to just keep the tank targeted at all time, which is also useful making Embrace work more effectively (can't mouseover for Embrace)

I think it would be cool if instead of giving the fairys sic and obey wich they cannot even use, give them a thing called focus where they heal who I use focus on from the moment they go to 99% and free wich will cancel that and make them go back to healing everyone, and also make obey just toggle like an on off switch for all pets, and it only change when u toggle it

That setting sounds awesome. I really want them to start healing from 90% instead of 70% too. Usually by the time they start casting on a target that's at 70% if it's a dps it's already at 30 or dead by the time the heal lands. If it's a tank, well then one fairy heal doesn't even heal 10% usually, so starting at 90 is much better either way.

I think they should get rid of Sic and Obey, and put in the 3rd "do nothing" stance. And then make it so Steady only uses their first ability (Embrace) on autopilot. That way, if you want your fairy to auto-use all their abilities (for trash mobs or easy bosses), you put her on Guard. If you want full control of your fairy, put her on Steady (since Embrace doesn't have a cooldown, I'm fine with it being on auto in this mode, but I'd also be cool with having to manually use it in steady as well). If you want her to stop doing everything (mostly for summoners/arcanists when they need to stop dpsing), you put her in the 3rd mode.

I've tried setting up keyboard macros so that the fairy stays in steady/obey mode, but it never seemed to reliably work - I think its because for Obey to work, you have to have an enemy targeted? And I keep the tank targeted.

the steady and obey don't work half the time so I just let the fairy do her own thing half the time, but if i need on demand healing i have embrace keybind and i use her to heal what i need problem solved :<

I was wondering why I was having a difficult time trying to get make macros work for her. If I could get her to cast with mouseovers and not waste abilities the moment I forget to put her in Steady, she would be much more effective (more so if I can do it while I'm in the middle of casting).

overall I think i could forgive most of the fairies quirks so far, if steady was a set and forget type of thing. The fact that we have to juggle steady with abilities is really annoying.

Any other improvements would be awesome, but if they did nothing else but make steady not toggle back to guard, then i would be happy personally :\

I agree with all of the above. I have also decided the it's best to use Selene most of the time anyway (while clearing trash, the DPS boost is better, I think), so I only need to manage Eos' group heals manually on boss fights. And most boss fights get frantic enough that I want her group heal the moment it becomes available by the middle/end of the fight, so there's not a lot of management to do once things get serious. Selene's buffs are pretty easy to juggle thanks to their long recast timers.

Ideal solution I've found and use:

Eos on 'steady' mode, spams Embrace on who needs it when its needed, good times. If I need her to AoE Heal, I use Rouse then activate Fey Illumination. This causes her to blast all cooldowns with +40% and +20% healing on her for pretty powerful results.

You have at least 55 seconds to put her back in 'Steady' so she doesnt spam it again, its not hard.

Selene is pretty useless at the moment. She gives a buff on your current skill/spell speed stat, not a flat out 30% on the starting cooldown for the skill, and since nobody really gears for spell speed...
