How many dedicated employees work on FF 14?

I've often wondered how many people work on this game. This would include employees that are dedicated to the FF 14 project, from Yoshi P the producer down to the artists that create the graphic models.

I'm just looking for a little persective when we are given timeframes to fix certain issues.

I know SE is a business first and foremost and they are here to make money, which right now they are not making money on 14, so are they adequately staffed in the 14 department, or have resources been pulled from this project to be placed in others?

I had heard around 100 people, but I don't have a source to back it up. The game is still in "development mode", which means they probably haven't reduced staffing. They want to eventually be able to charge for the game, and they've had to rewrite major systems, do new artwork, design new classes; it's taking a lot of work.

I don't think they will reduce staff until after PS3 release and the start of the subscription fee, so perhaps after June 2012? I think June 2012 is dependent on whether or not they redo all of the zones, if not; they can probably do it a bit sooner. Hopefully in their pursuit of a strong mmo division, they will keep the team very strong beyond that point in the hopes of pumping out large amounts of content so that players are interested in the game.

I'm curious as to what they might do after a patch if they "redo the zones". For example. Player xyz is logged out in Thanalan, coordinate (xx,yy) but after the patch, this coordinate no longer exists because the entire map has been redone. Do they release a footnote saying "Oh by the way... We moved everyone's character to Ul'dah"? lol

Sure, why not. Seems like a no-brainer solution to me.

hmmm I can see maybe the MMO department having 100, but I can't see 100 employees dedicated to FFXIV. Perhaps there is Yoshi P, and then each of the sections of Gameplay inthe forums, may have a "lead" so that is 6-7 more. Perhaps each team has 2-4 employees. Then you may have a quality/testing group. I can see maybe 30-40 tops.

At the pace this game is being developed, I would say they are short on their team.

Yoshi-P and Tanaka both said in several interviews the whole team is around a 100 people.
