Actually, she is helping her community by offering a useful macro to protect her peers from unwanted spam. Reporting gilsellers is a completely separate issue. This post is about offering a convenient way of adding them to the blacklist only. From my point of view, she is contributing positively to her community. Are you?
For general chat spam: Right click the person's name > Send Tell. Put the name in quotes via the arrow keys. Then erase off the /tell part and add /blist add. It should look like /blist add "name" when done. This is the easy way to blacklist Qiowf Soihjodif from spamming you.
a) this macro has been posted a few times now
b) it really really shouldn't be needed. se could simply give us the option to right-click blacklist AND REPORT (lotro does this, for example)
c) one major issue with the blacklisting is that the chat automatically scrolls down more often than not. there needs to be an easy function to stop that (for example like most mmos handle it. as soon as you scroll up the chat realises that you probably still want to read something)
thank you, anyway. this will come in handy for people while we wait for SE to actually help us out here
Also, you do get a confirmation prompt when you use this feature, so you don't risk blacklisting someone else.
It will clearly ask you: "Do you wish to blacklist XXX YYY? Yes/No".
If you put the boldface "add " that I edited into the above quote, and remove the extra "delete" that I underlined, it works perfectly. I use this macro on my logitech G710+. I also use a 100 ms delay between characters, though it might work just as well at 50 ms.
Using a keyboard macro like this is technically against the TOS, but I'm guessing SE will be OK with it until they give us a better method.
