Yep newegg.com and tigerdirect.com (sometimes different components are cheaper here, like Hard drives) are where I shop. I'm CompTIA A+ cert'd so if you happen to be in Arizona I could help you. haha. If not just find a fellow gamer nerd that builds custom PCs and hit them up for their services!

Thanks KisaiTenshi, good info to know! how much larger (physically in dimension) in general would a 1000w be from a 800w?

The same, usually. ATX formats are supposed to cover a wide range of motherboard sizes, but i'm fairly certain most PSUs will fit in the PSU area in your case.

The stuff that comes in HP's and Dell's are extremely cheap and usually noisy underpowered things that die if you try to put any video card or cpu more powerful in it than what came with.
May be not wasting power, but definitely money if you go with a 1000w with his setup. The only way he would need a 1000w power suppy, is if he was planning on running dual titans in SLI or had enough peripherals to need an amp boost, and thats at peak power which you almost never run into. He's going to need at max an 800w -850w supply. The worst advice you can give is to tell someone to just go and get the largest psu available. You should always tailor the psu to fit the system with a bit of headroom for an upgrade. Remember, he's probably not going to run SLI or overclock his CPU, which means you need to look at a normal clock CPU with a normal PC MB and a single Video card. Even running a single Titan he doesn't need the 1000w PSU, even if it's 80+Platinum. It's still going to be more watts then he's ever going to need. Now if he plans on running that 670 SLI or adding a crapton more peripherals then yah, maybe go with the 1000w, but remember bigger isn't always better.

Seriously guys - can I just say - this is only my second post but I am really surprised at the amount of support and assistance you guys have provided. Seriously been absolutely awesome.

Now - Ima go hit up newegg and tigerdirect and see what its gonna cost me in parts for a new build.... hmmmm.... maybe I can sell this one to my younger brother.... hehe.

Radunas - is there a particular mobo on the market today which you would recommend? sufficient to run what I need now with capabilities for upgrade down the track... haha been a while since I've built and technology is changing that quick these days....

Don't forget to include Amazon in there as well, just make sure when you search on amazon to check the box that says "New"

Best thing to do if you are planning to do a full upgrade, don't do it right now. With black friday and cyber monday right around the corner i'd say just stick it out for now, and wait until then. That's what I'm doing.

No prob man, I'm just bored at work, and always want to permeate the 'help your fellow gamers' attitude, especially with a brand new game with tons of issues! I want to give a good image of the type of people that play, in a forum where most people come to piss and moan. (not you )

Personally, the way I shop newegg is:

Processor I want, see what slot it is (AM3+/whatever), then go for the mobo, taking into consideration what video card i want to put in there and make sure it is compatable, then throw some RAM (also checking mobo specs for compatabilities with speeds/size), pick your HD, DVD burner and wrap it in a nice affordable case with multiple cooling options and ability to access the BACK of the mobo to add water cooling either on the first build or the 2nd upgrade.

And truly, most of my decisions are made from all of the customer reviews on newegg's product pages. They are the best way to survey whatever product you're looking at for innate issues (high level of DoAs), general usage (gaming/media/office), and user experience/rating.

Amazon is cool too, but I like to buy my tech from tech sites, not a walmart of the internet. Also, returns and RMAs are more efficient through a company that has more direct ties to the manufacturer than a site like amazon. But, I've never purchased products from them for my personal PC parts so I can't speak directly to that process.

So 1000w is way overkill right? You hit the nail on the head Gonzo, I really don't need top of the line - especially since I just wasted $1400 on this damn thing **kicks pryon pc**. Just looking at putting together a nice PC that will run my games and graphic design programs with capacity to upgrade down the line.

It all really depends on the difference in price - if we're only talking about $10-$30 to go from an 800 to a 1000 (I doubt) then yea probably woth doing... but if we're talking hundreds and its for something I'll never use then definitely don't want/need it...

Like I said - as cheap as possible without it being cheap quality - and with room for future improvements.

From what I've heard from my tech friends Amazon return policy is a lot more friendly than newegg or tiger. NTM there's no difference between buying it from Amazon or buying it from newegg, saying that there is, is a load of BS, as long as you buy it new. Thats like saying my Miracle Whip is going to be a better quality if i buy it new at a dedicated grocery store rather than walmart.
