So the latest driver update boosted our 550ti performance too?

Definitely. After frustrating hours of questing with crap FPS on super low settings, I gave up and checked the Nvidia experience software, to which there was an update to both the software suite and driver. Logged back in after a restart, and bam. fixed.

Radunas/Freyar, yes it is a GT630 not a GTX .... but surely I would be able to get better than what I am getting even with that... or is that just wishful thinking on my behalf?

Radunas, thanks for your suggestions... My drivers were the first thing I thought of, so I made sure they were up to date - made no difference...I have never used MSI afterburner, do you think it would help?
Well, yea that card isn't going to perform as good as the GTX series, check out the link freyar posted to video card benchmark and see what he means.

The MSI afterburner software is for overclockers. I wouldn't recommend getting into that unless you're gonna do the proper research and not blame the software if you burn a hole through your card. BUT, you can use it to control the fan speed on your card, if it supports that function, so I turn it up to run it cooler and thus smoother.

Nice, i've been holding off on updating because of the issues some others have had with the driver, but if it works that nicely i definitely will now.

Not really with that card, especially at the resolution you are trying to run it on. You could downgrade to a lcd monitor and maybe get a little more(say 2 or 3) fps, but even then its not going to be that much better.

I got a significant improvement on my 670's.

I'd really not suggest you go out and try to find a different 630. You'd be better off checking if your power supply can handle PCI-E power (usually listed as PCI-E 6-pin connectors), and making sure you have enough space in your case. Look for something like a 550, 660, or 670 (though a 670 can be overkill...)

haha ok... lets try a different way... lets say I wanted to run the game on max settings with decent fps, plugged through my plasma... what card would you recommend?

Also, am I going the right way about this - meaning are the rest of my pc specs ok and all I should replace is my graphics card OR am I just wasting my time and should get a different pc?

if you're going to upgrad I would upgrade atleast to the 650ti Boost, if you have a bit of room in your budget i would go ahead and pay the extra $130 and get the GTX 660. I personally would go with MSI, the reviews i've seen have said that the dual coolers on their cards keep them cooler than any of the others and the cards themselves are quite stable.

It sounds by the way of the parts described, as well as the "12GB" of RAM which I've really only seen from big box stores like best buy. Also your APU processor. Is there a model number or can you tell us more about it? It is possible to upgrade big box PCs, it might just be a little non standard due to manufacturer standards, processes, and proprietary parts.
