I think the main thing that would help is a clearer class discriptions, especially in cases like this where 1 class can split into 2 roles.
I cant Judge for the sch quests, but the whm one was very clear about whm being a healer, Im assuming this is the case for sch quests too, if not.. thats another thing that could help avoiding the confusion.

You dont like the way I do my job? I dont give a damn what you like, any of you.
If you are still alive and lance slinging a few years down the road,
and lucky enough to watch your family grow as you honor your oath.
    Then you'll understand..
But getting old in my guild is a privilege.

Sch quest is about, Healing, Dmg mitigation, Bluff and Debluff and DD when needed.

A lot of depends on PT setups. If your PT got Blm that knows how to sleep mobs, Tank that does not behave like a wet Tofu, go crazy with Cleric Stance, DoTs and stuff.

Thank you, so it does tell people sch is about healing.
I do agree some discriptions could be clearer but judging by the very first mission and pretty much every step off it told me it was all about healing.

Actually... SCH is more about dmg imitigation then healing. Prevent dmg from overshooting the limit which you or your fairy can handle. I been leaving my PT tank at under 60% at times because I crit on succor or aq, the imitigating factor is there and I roused my fairy, I hit cleric stance, DoT and bane. FREE DEBLUFFS FOR EVERYBODY!

Never underestimate stoneskin + AQ. It frees you up to do dmg.

Were people dying or near death while you're dps'ing?

If yes, then you're playing wrong.

If no, then keep doing what you're doing.

Not at all, and no, I wasn't running out of MP or anything.
But as Conjurer, I've ran into tanks who've gotten pissy if I "step on their Toes" by casting Stone or Water to help them out a little if everyone's health is under control. Been yelled at for that because tanks have said I'm causing more Aggro doing that, the. Told "your job is to heal, so just heal" so I don't wanna run into the same situation where someone's pissy because I DPS (secondary over healing) but now know heals first, DPS second

Honestly, not being there, can't say, but they're probably doing something wrong.

As long as you're attacking their primary target, and they should be marking, your dps should be welcome.

In Dungeons, a healer should never outhate a tank on his main target and it's not difficult for the tank to outhate the healer on all targets. Just always make sure you're fighting his target.

lol, I wanted to play as a scholar until I found out that it was a healing role. I don't want to be a healer...but I thought the fairy and unicorn looked awesome. So...once I found out, I went the route of summoner. I'm much happier, and it's nice being able to pick up the slack if the healer in my party is pretty shitty & people constantly die. I'm thinking of leveling up cnj just so I have better healing abilities with my summoner to help better in dungeons. But yeah, I understand this post, I was confused at first too...

btw: I'm level 39 summoner...not sure why it's showing level 30 archanist on the side here.

arc / sch is a rather unique class / job progression, because for 30 levels you are playing as a DD, and only at level 30 do you begin to play the healer roll. It seems odd to spend so much time practicing one roll to change to a different roll at that point. And where do you put your bonus attribute points? Do you put them all into mind planning on becoming a sch? That would inhibit the function of the arc for 30 levels since arc does not have cleric stance. It's a little confusing that SE did it this way, unless it was to make it a more challenging character to play.
