Lv 50 Gear suggestions.

I'll soon hit level 50 with my first class(45 almost 46 )... however because i followed a bad guide i ended up in Twin Adders. I'm focusing on black Mage and the gear offered at Adders seems pretty off the mark for me, Do I have to get the Grand company Gear to move on to Ifrit in hard Mode? or are there any other choices ? I've been reading how people just look at your gear and leave immediately if you don't have specific gear. I've seen also some guides saying gears about the stones to get after.. and some before.. an some optional.. it's confusing me.... anyone experienced has a concrete idea to tell me ?



( Note : I know i can switch grand companies.. but my days to play are counted.. and it would be such a drag to have to waste a considerable amount of time to get all the seals for max rank again to then grind more seals to get the gear. )

You don't need the grand companies' gear.

When you hit 50 : go to wanderer palace to get some philosophal tomestone and some ilvl 55 gear. OR, if you are lucky enough/good enough you can do Amdapor keep which drops ilvl 60 GEAR and lots of philosophal tomestone AND mythological tomestone.

Regarding IFRIT HM. It is really easy... you just need to know the "dance" so you can dodge every aoe and a good PLD that knows to interrupt the eruption

So my advice will be : hit level 50 => wanderer's palace/ifrit HM => amdapor keep => Garuda when you have some amdapor's keep/Darklight gear => Titan HM

If you have the rank for it, the Grand Company weapons are actually really good for a fresh 50. Since the Ifrit weapons are random, you could be lucky and get one on the first run, or you can be like some of the poor saps here and do a hundred runs and never get one.

Aside from that, make sure you have your important subclass skills (raging strikes and quelling strikes from archer being the most important ones.)

Honestly, full AF gear from your job quests and some decent accessories (you can buy level 49 accessories pretty cheap on the market board) and a GC weapon is well more than sufficient enough to get you through Ifrit, Amdapor, and Garuda, though you'll probably want a piece of Darklight or two and some Amdapor gear before stepping into Garuda.
