I know the first incarnation of the game was really bad. But I've loved all of the NA FF games in the past that I have played, and totally burned myself out on WoW.

I was looking forward to playing a new mmo with a bunch of my friends irl and from previous mmos, but there are so many detractors for ffxiv right now. It's almost like the reaction to xiv part 1 was expected to carry over into ARR

It was an embarrassing launch really. How hard is it to take some of the millions that weren't expected to flood in, (and did) to double the size of your server population and clone over some new software? I'm oversimplifying- I know. But something at least huh- it's been almost a month. (I understand they have said it's coming in "early sept." "late sept." and "early oct." but yeah "soon".)

Main story mobs are broken. End game is a joke due to sprites chocobos and pikachu summons being a way higher priority to render than say...the mob that's owning everyone. Aoe's are ridiculous in most instances. It takes an act of god to make characters on the same server as friends. I was hoping to level with a group of friends. Heck my wife and I are on different worlds, and we were in the same room trying to find servers that would allow more than 1 character creation to no avail. At least we'll have housing coming soon!

I don't know. I was really really looking forward to this game, and hoping it would be good. Now I'm not so sure I want to sub more than it takes to finish the story. (which hopefully they fix this mob I'm sitting in front of and unable to get the quest from because he's broken...) I guess once all the disgruntled people leave due to the major flaws then those that're left will be able to play together maybe? It's just sad, you know? Had such high hopes...
