They're still going to get harassed if the harasser wants it bad enough. Grow a pair. This is an MMO and taking out the social aspect of it is downright stupid. Besides, if someone does harass you via tell, you have the option to blacklist.Have anyone stop and think the reason why they don't allow /tell in Dungeon? I's to prevent harassment of another player. Like if a DPS, Tank, Healer is doing a bad job or some Douche Bag don't like how the other player for whatever reason, or he is getting all the loot. He would /tell and harass that person and no one will know. I like it like this. If you have something bad to say, tell it in party and everyone can see the message. It encourage people if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say it at all. It doesn't completely stop it, but it make it a little better. I have a Linkshell for Friends anyway, so I'm not bother by it and it get rid of the gold spammer /tell too.
Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't comin' back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.
And it doesn't work. People still get harassed, just openly now. Again, I've been in parties where people have been singled out by the majority of the party.
I have said this when Yoshida said it, and I will say it again. This is what a Blacklist is for. Use it. Love it. Enjoy it.
I realized this by level 30 and saw how HORRIBLE of a system it was by then too. Constantly wanted to ask friends I met if they wanted to run this dungeon with me but they were in one or a solo story mission so I couldn't. Eventually I just started to invite everyone I made friends with to my LS, but that's still a stupid solution to a even stupider problem.
Fix how anti-social this game is, and fix it NOW. A MMO, the genre born and well known for it's social interaction shouldn't go out of it's way to make things as anti-social as possible.
If they are on your friend list, have you ever thought of using the moogle mail service? Thy might notice it or they might not, but it's an option you have though still not really a solution.
This is in no way relevant to the discussion, as you can't use Moogle Mail in a dungeon.

I think people are confusing working with a faulty system and using tools to work with the system.
Working with a faulty system:
"Titan has latency, but if you trigger an action after dodging, it will force a position check."
=
"You can't send tells into dungeons, but make a linkshell and invite everyone new you meet in there so you can bypass this."
These are two examples of broken systems, which players manage to work around and deal with it. But it's unacceptable and shouldn't be naturalized.
really dont understand these people and their logic, irl i would just laugh at them and move onI think people are confusing working with a faulty system and using tools to work with the system.

Allow people to /tell anyone in their friends list no matter where they are.
It only makes perfect sense to at least give this. It's broken as it is now.
In all honesty I'd wish they'd remove this restriction entirely and add it as an option in the DF if so they desire, and people who can't stand whispers in the DF can effin turn it on.

Indeed, I'd prefer to have the choice via an opt in/out checkbox or something. Forcing anti-social behaviour is just a weird way to prevent any form of abuse. It is also my contention that in a MMORPG, a social game by essence, I should be in control of my social interactions (public/private, allowed/blocked, etc.), not forced by the game. People ≠ NPC.
“Focus on the journey, not the destination.
Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
I can't understand how people can actually defend such a stupidly designed system..... Not being able to private message someone is just dumb and unacceptable and it needs to be fixed now. End of story.
