No. Kiting was easy, which is why you won with it.
Kirin should have always wiped all of you. You clearly weren't good enough to beat it legitimately.
Now if there's a Kirin, you can't chickenwuss it to death. Hopefully.

It took skill yes, but once you had that skill you could beat anything in the game given enough time. If they want to add that type of mechanic where learning a skill makes you win, it needs to be more than one class, like i said right now you can kite and win even more than before, thats why they threw the leash in place, In alpha you could kite infinitely, and all the ranged people abused it. think about it
you get back hp and mp while not in combat
you can move even more during casts than before
your run speed is equal to monster speed, but they arent as good at pathing.
Im not opposed to some tactical kiting here and there, but running in circles for 1.5 hours to defeat a monster is basically cheesy
if they didnt have ranged attacks, there would be virtually no risk at all
This games mechanics are horrible anyways, including the auto HP/MP regen in combat. Auto-mp regen in general is HORRIBLE and shouldn't exist, we don't manage MP as it is.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

You mean debuffing, curing, magic bursting, refreshing, hasting , -naing or more debuffs (/whm vs /blm), add sleeping, MP managing classes? Sure! Bring back the 2003/2004 RDM playstyle. That was so fun, I miss playing RDM back then. I had so much to do, so much to pay attention to, so much to manage. OMG <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Or perhaps you mean the puller, shadow magaging, buffing melee + ballading the caster, managing repop timers in your head, constantly pulling as fast as possible while also maging to keep songs up, add sleeping Bard? Sure! Bring back the 2007(?)-2009ish bard! <3 <3 <3 <3
I love fun, hard, skill scaling, interactive complex classes ^_^

you can debuff cure battle regiment siphon mp, sorry no haste. And yeah the rdm playstyle, while it may appeal to some, is not very rdm like. i think they were only status masters in 2 of the 14 final fantasies. Maybe they need a new job name for that playstyle.
I played RDM as a support mage. Bluemage was added for melee-mage playstyle. RDM wasn't my main, just back in 2003/2004. Later on when I came back it was SCH, which was pretty much just as complex and fun. I miss complex classes, can I have them again please? People like being challenged :/
more annoying is you can't leave if they are engaged. not even log out.

haha honestly the disciplines are pretty complex, there are a lot of skills and much to do, you can create most playstyles from the basics. the problem is the enemies are just too weak.
When you start exploring the world, and fighting difficult things, or low manning things, you start to have to be adept, and things like retaining mp, or weakening a mob become very useful.
for example on pug, using light strike, featherfoot, and maintaining concussive blow endows you with very good evasion, but trying to do damage, or provoke or cure yourself while doing this, is a pretty intensive task. Back when we used to fight piestes in coerthas at level... 28? the mages had to bio and slow the dude, heal instantly after the breath attack, and watch for parazlyze, while trying to get in thier potshots of damage.
The trend of lowering the amount behest gives, and making specific harder monsters give high exp returns, may infact be worth it, but they need more difficult mobs, popping in more places.
I mean the ones that destroy entire job concepts for the sake of convenience and people's tendency to take the path of least resistance and thirst for quick party invites. (hint: read my sig)
More like the quintessential princess job that could hold an entire party hostage.Or perhaps you mean the puller, shadow magaging, buffing melee + ballading the caster, managing repop timers in your head, constantly pulling as fast as possible while also maging to keep songs up, add sleeping Bard?
Either way, MP regen should simply never be the responsibility of one class. At least, not in a way where the class' role IS MP regeneration. Having that as a secondary effect baked into someone's standard rotation would make it less demeaning and might even help in making it common instead of this thing people fight over out of desperation.
