Players connot join the party while you are engaged in combat

So this is really annoying. The other day during a GB fight our CON d/c'd and upon reconnection couldn't join the part as we were engaged, are we all supposed to disengage and go to passive mode so we can do the invite and then re-engage without someone wiping?

Come to think of it, the other week three of us were fighting Phaia and my friend got a bit trigger happy and engaged as soon as the NM popped (while another friend was crafting between pops). Again our friend couldn't change his class from Alchemist back to Pugilist as we were engaged.

    It's a bit annoying.

    Disband
    Log off
    Equip skill
    Swich job

You can still equip skills during combat. You only need to put your weapon back for a moment.
If you are not in combat but your weapon is out, you can't equip skills, too

its basically to prevent the many exploits that we had in ffxi, log off your hate, come back, the new exploit of changing skills mid combat and the old of gear swapping. the only solution i can think of is if it doesnt actually kick players when they get dced in a party, and puts them in a standby state where they can still die, get hit etc, but i dont really know if the whole log in and etc mechanic would support that

I agree that some restrictions/conditions should be applied, because we all know that players will exploit whatever they can , but to completely prevent us from doing some basic things is a little too much in my opinion.

They could always impose some kind of weakness or "cooldown" for changing classes/skills in the middle of the fight.

As for logging hate, perhaps they could try and make sure that hate you had just before logging out is not immediately lost...but you keep loosing it when you get back on (if you get back in next 3-5min for example).

This is just a basic example, I'm sure there are brighter people around who can think of better ways to deal with hell maybe even SE can come up with something lol

I think there was a status effect in the system specifically to address class changing in battle..

The logging off part is fine. I'd still want to be able to invite people to the party while engaged in combat. Behest is a good example of why it sucks to be unable to do so. I usually run into someone who was off on their own killing things and then the final mob spawns on top of me, so I'm happily fighting it only for me to see someone who can't help because I can't invite them while engaged in combat.
They don't like kiting, so they made is not exist
I'd rather stuff be balanced around face to face combat over kiting something beyond gimmick encounters.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

yah basically to prevent exploits such as that. i just hope when instanced dungeons come in they remove this and just limit the amount of people each instance can hold so if someone does DC u can invite them back
