[Game Feedback] Hide PSN Account Please

First of all, I want to say thank you to any Square Enix representatives for the enjoyable game. But to the topic, I was a bit surprised when I started playing the game and noticed that everyone had their PSN account names showing on the examine screen. I understand that the game needs to be linked to a PSN account, and have no complaints with that, but I think seeing another player's PSN ID while in-game should be removed. Ignoring the privacy and security issues that come with it being visible, which are by no means small, it is also fomenting social classes with PS3 players being instantly ostracized simply for being PS3 players.

If there is a reason this can't be done, due to some sort of Sony/Playstation requirement for their online services, please respond saying as much. For the moment though, while it seems like a relatively minor issue, it still has some very serious repercussions. Thank you for your time, and I hope this suggestion is taken into serious consideration.

As a PS3 player myself, I would not want to be discriminated against by the community at large simply because I play ARR on my console as opposed to a PC. I am already seeing evidence of a type of 'siege mentality' developing where PC players view themselves as being imposed upon or simply being better than PS3 players because they use a keyboard instead of a controller.

Thanks, that is good to know. I still think there is no good purpose for the tags being public, even if it is only to other PS3 players, but I feel a little bit better about it now.

I support this tag being removed or having the option to hide it from the public, I'm rather new to the PS3 and didn't know that it would be public or it might just be public to other PS3 players I don't know. Either way, I can see other PS3 players online ID and that is private info that they themselves should give out if they wanted too, "Not" make it public and have higher possible ways of harassment. But that's just how I feel about about it.

I also agree to hide or remove the playstation ID as it feels intrusive. Maybe I dont want everyone to know my playstation id.

It feels like it is violating my personal privacy. Please take this online ID away or make an option to hide it. Thank you.

I'd hate to say this, but every game you have ever played online on the PS3 displays your PSN account. In some cases it's the only way for some people to add you as their friends.

Having this in XIV does just as much harm as having it in, say, Call of Duty or Borderlands.

Since PC users cannot see this name, the amount of discrimination you would get over being a Playstation user is effectively none. Unless you tell them you're on the PS3/4, and even then, only the most elitist players of the upper 1% would deny you access to their party then. But if you didnt tell them they just would have found another reason to decline you regardless.

You know that in every other game you can simply go to recent contacts and pull up the psn ID of every random player you meet? Just change your settings so only friends can message you and only friends of friends can send friend requests.

I think an option to hide your PSN from you Character page would be good! People use the same gaming ID for other things, and I myself have stalked through multiple games before.

Wait, did you serious resurrect a post that was started on 09-25-2013 01:12 AM, where the last post made was 07-17-2014 04:55 AM?

Let's face it, it's been 2/3 years. This isn't being implemented at all and the other posters have valid points. PC players can't see your PSNID and regardless of the fact, there are tons of games that allow you to pull up the PSNIDs of players long after the game is over, with or without their permission.

In fact, I'd be tempted to say that in the EULA/TOS for PSN this 'behavior' is completely allowed and you've agreed to it. Sorry!
