Black screen after clicking start on Windows

I had to re install windows yesterday and also ff14. The log in window comes up fine and I am able to log in but when I click start to get to my character the screen goes black and the loading symbol pops up in the lower right hand corner and it just sits there.

I allready start a thread in the German Forum, because im German.

I am also having this issue. Originally I thought the issue was that I was running server 2012 but reinstalled to Windows 8 and same issue. My windows 8 laptop runs without issue.

All drivers are up to date including the new NVidia driver

Hope that this can be resolved as my lappy really isn't up to the task of gaming.

Saw this on Reedit..

try this as it might have something to do with the cut scene..maybe..

I win. Open the config file found under documents/my games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn (Beta Version) It's labeled FFXIV.cfg. Open up in notepad and change the value of CutsceneMovieOpening to 1, rather than 0. Save, restart the game and you should be good.
