    Windows has stopped working

I have tried multiple venues in trying to fix this on my own but I am stumped. I install FFXIV's launcher which loads fine. However when I click on the launcher.exe a window pops up stating "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." The help site wasn't helpful, I am using the link provided for the people who had FFXIV 1.0, thought that might have been the issue but I have yet to see something else for direct downloads. Thank you for reading my post and I hope you are able to find something that I was unable to find.

When you bought the game you should have gotten the link to download the latest version of the game. This link should be the one you use if you had 1.0 and did not buy the new version. http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na/ Try downloading it again and reinstalling. Hope this helps

You should post the error code and your computer's stats when asking for help, it saves time. Also, did you run the benchmark program to see if your computer can handle the game?

I have ran the benchmark and it runs decently well with high laptop settings...around 4000. I have the original FFXIV for PC so already used the link that you provided to start the initial process, which was fine, then had the aforementioned error.

As far as the error code and what not... I don't get a code unless you are referring to the jibberish that I see when looking under the events log. And it is a 3 year old alienware laptop with windows 7 4gig of RAM and the graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce GT 335m.

The jibberish that I have regarding events log is:
Faulting application name: ffxivlauncher.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x522e642e
Faulting module name: nvdxgiwrap.dll, version: 8.17.12.5730, time stamp: 0x4bfd42c4
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x0000253a
    Faulting process id: 0x1e10
    Faulting application start time: 0x01ceb954b6f1a779
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivlauncher.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\CoProcManager\nvdxgiwrap.dll
    Report Id: f8bd2884-2547-11e3-81e9-c44619e25b88

I play this game all the time on my desktop and on my ps3, just would have been nice to play it when I'm away from my desktop at a friend's house or something.

    My solution to the problem.

I'm an over the road truck driver, and don't necessarily get to log in to play FFXIV at the same place every time I go to play. I was parked for the evening and went to sign in and got the same error.

I was going to post about that, so the original poster would see that it wasn't just him/her having this problem, and found I was not logged in so I did so to find out that Square-Enix had locked my account due to the possibility of fraudulent activity. (I think it's probably because I do sign in at a different location all the time due to my job, may need to call them and see if they can't notate my account of that for potential of future problems?).....yes, before you decide to ask, I do have the security token app installed on my tablet and registerred with Square-Enix.

Anyway, I followed the instructions and reset my password and was able to log in. My suggestion would be to log out of the forums, relog in and see if you get the same message and go through the process.

Thats a good idea if I was even logging in first. The launcher won't even load in order for me to put in my information.
