I wouldn't be so annoyed if it weren't for this concept art...

Spoken like a true non-tank.To be honest, if the gear look is important enough to hold back the very few peoples option of playing it, more of a loss for them. Not sure why it would be job breaking for these people, but I guess vanity is that important to them in a game (just as it is IRL).
I personally don't see a problem with the tank equips being how they are (looks and customization). It's not surprising in the least bit that you don't have full customization of every aspect of your characters look, but that's just from a non-bias (realistic) approach.
SE fix this please, it is like many many others have said one of the lamest things in game. I will not be getting the Head+chest for this very reason alone.
Did you guys know that you can turn off the helmet display? JK!
I am on the same boat. I bought all DL pieces except for the chest+helmet. I will wait to get my AF2 armor + Hoplite since that combination is better than DL alone for helm/armor. I'm saving my Tomestones to get my relic weapon set, atm.
PLD AF2 head and AF2 body then you can see your face.
Cool your passions oh burning Ifrit.
I never got the darklight armor. Didn't know it was connected...which honestly seems like a major oversight in basic functional armor design.
The entire point of the feature was to prevent things like this, so it does seem pretty stupid to have your endgame gear unable to use it. And for that matter, what excuse did they have for not being able to lower cowls again? Because if it's clipping, they have a mountain of that already.
I read this and thought of Steiner (FFIX)...I'd be willing to wait for my Relic set to see my face again, if SE made the DL set give off a loud *CLANG* every time I get hit. That would make the set satisfying enough to give up seeing my character for a while.
Pulling a big group of mobs would result in *CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG*. I'm a walking metal trashcan, at least let me sound like one.
Personally I've never been a fan of the Paladin AF, so I'll take Heavy Darksteel until Allagan. Allagan looks fantastic, much better than Paladin AF imo, and I can use it on both WAR and PLD. I'll save my mythology for Relic+1 and gearing a DPS that has non-shared Allagan gear.
Totally off topic but I like how people use to report very mixed signals about how mobs aggroed. One person would sneak past a monster while the person imitating them would be aggroed instantly. It would be a very long time before we finally noticed that heavy armor made more sound than light/cloth armor so the tanks ended up aggroing stuff a lot by accident when we were trying to be sneaky in the Darkhold.![]()
