I'm really not sure why Squeenix doesn't like gear customization and variety.

For what it's worth the Darklight cowl is ugly as shit too.
I like it on my character.

Quite frankly, if you can use another class to grind for the gear for the relic... I'll do the same in order to 'skip' this tier of gear.
If not, I'll soldier through it at some point - as fast as I possibly can.
But hide-able I presume, unlike the combo-sets of tanks. Doesn't matter if its ugly, if you can hide it.

Striving for perfection is the path to one's downfall. 'Tis the paradox of the immaculate carrot. | Jah Bless. One God, One Aim, and One Destiny - Marcus Garvey.
Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war - Ras Tafari.
Why not just turn off the head gear display?
Nope, it's a one-piece body+head set, just like your tin can armor. The cowl cannot be hidden or lowered.
It's bad enough that I think I'm gonna have some Vanya robes crafted, because the thought of staying in this cowl until I can get enough myths for AF+1 or the Allegan robe drops is terrifying.
To be honest, if the gear look is important enough to hold back the very few peoples option of playing it, more of a loss for them. Not sure why it would be job breaking for these people, but I guess vanity is that important to them in a game (just as it is IRL).
I personally don't see a problem with the tank equips being how they are (looks and customization). It's not surprising in the least bit that you don't have full customization of every aspect of your characters look, but that's just from a non-bias (realistic) approach.
I agrree and see this as a huge problem.. So much so that I refuse to get the DLChest/Helm, so my plan of attack is
AF2 Helm
AF2 Chest
DL Gloves
AL Legs/Feet
I have the weapon from HM Garuda so Relic +1 can wait a bit.
