Incorrect NPC dialog: local leves NPC

Ya I figured your just a child. You do not undersrand the Various ways "at a time" can be used, or never paid attention in school. Also it isn't a bug. Guildleves are items. Just go to the counter and exchange them out when you get new ones. I'm trying to help you out not flame you. If your gonna act like a spoiled child, then no one will really care what you have to say.

Further examples of "at a time". You go to a a movie rental place, and you can only rent out 3 movies at a time. Meaning WHEN you rent you rent out movies you can only get 3. Or watch the discovery channel and learn that Lionness give birth to 2-3 cubs at a time. Meaning WHEN they give birth to babies they typicaly only have 2-3.

The phrase "at a time" also means with in the moment. That cookie example you gave was wrong also. You only was going to give him * at a time. Meaning when you wanted ti give him cookies he can only get 8.

There's no need to overstate. It's as simple as this.

I say to you, "You can only have 1 active quest at a time."

Do you then think:

A. "I can have 1 quest active at a time, so once I finish it I can pick up a new quest."

B. "I can have 1 quest active at a time, so once I finish it I must wait for some undisclosed timer to run out before I can pick up a new quest."

If you are picking "B" I'm not sure where you learned English, but it probably isn't the same place as me (or the OP). Knowing that leves are on a timer ahead of time is great, but it doesn't mean the NPC should assume you know that. Once you complete and turn in a Local Leve it is removed from your log and thus you "don't have it" any longer. It's not as clear as Regionals which you do retain in your log.

You can get on his case, but I agree what the NPC says is inaccurate.

It leads you to believe false information.

If you know how leves work then it doesn't matter. You auto-correct in your head.
If you don't know how leves work, well you'll be confused until you do learn.

The NPC should state you can only do 8 leves per whatever in-game time the cycle runs on, or break the fourth wall and explain it properly, or not mention "8" at all but say you simply need to wait for more leves to become available because you've done as many as you can do at that time.

Hey guys your wrong it isn't writtent incorrectly, poorly, nor gives misinformation. You just reading it wrong or taking it to literally. This is a short hand term, and serves its purpose. I gave several examples of how it is correct. The phrase "at a time" does not mean what OP said it does. It is hard for me to explain it well. So I will go with my movie rental example.

Yo go to a new movie rental place and ask, "how many movies can I rent out" He will reply " you can only rent out three movies AT A TIME" This doesn't always mean you rent three come back rent three more. But for every time you do rent out movies you can get 3.

Another exampke again, is the lioness giving birth to cubs. Which they tend to give birth to, two cubs at AT A TIME. does this mean they have non stop babies? no. It means every time they do become pregnet and give birth it is typicall only 2 cubs. (or more it been a while).


So again what npc said is correct info. Just you lot missunderstood it, and took it to literal.

There is also an NPC somewhere in Gridania, I think in the back of the archers guild or the carpenters guild, that uses the word "gaol" which reminds me of Oscar Wilde, who had a particularly abrasive fixation on colors, so "gaol" is a bad word for me, fix that too please. It's very random and out of place anyway and I bet the better half of players don't have the slightest clue what a gaol is or how to say it.

To the OP, though - Just because you're right doesn't mean you should talk down to people. It's causing this thread to turn into a "we hate Grammar Nazi, even when he's not correcting us personally" instead of what it should be - making the game text clear and accurate to reflect the game mechanics (preferably without breaking the 4th wall).

Gaol, for example, doesn't seem to be liked by my auto-spell check but it's a word and you can look it up in the dictionary. Anyone who doesn't know what a word means that happens to be the subject of a sentence or paragraph should probably look it up if they don't know. Google will tell you right quick. It's archaic, but they used in in XI so no reason not to use it in XIV, I guess.

Also your later use of "TL;DR" is pretty ... rude considering you wrote a pretty TL;DR post or two yourself.

If you want to make clear and succinct points, try to be less condescending.
