New Character Help!

Hello,

I just started final fantasy 14 last night. I started on Zalera, and was just wondering if there was anyone else on there on evenings I could join up with and get some advice? I'm not new to MMORPG's, as I played WoW and FFXI for years, but 14 just seems different. I tried to shout and ask for advice and whatnot but I could not see through the spammers trying to sell gil. I'm going to go ahead and apologize as I'm sure its a super noob question, but how do you blacklist them? I tried the /blist add name but it kept saying that I could not add them to blacklist while targeting this item or person and I made sure I didn't have anything targeted. lol as I said, I just played for like 30 minutes last night, but just looking for some (probably obvious) beginner advice/help.

Open the Social list, then move to the blacklist tab. After that just add them one by one. Unfortunately there isn't currently a way to right click/blacklist, supposedly square thinks we would accidentally blacklist our friends. I play on Cactuar otherwise I'd be happy to play with you sometime.

Lol yeah SE seems to have multiple ridiculous reasons for things. I know this is a noob question but how do I open the social list? I only ask because I open the chat log thingy but I didn't see the blacklist tab (im at work now and wont be on till tonight) but all I remember seeing was like... general, settings, and something else. I tried to find it last night cause I couldn't even see my chat after I typed it cause they spammed so much RMT.

while not on your server so can't help in-game, if you have a question post it here and I will do my best to answer it. I'll check a couple times a day for the email (thread subscription) so I should be able to answer within the same day.
Otherwise, Good Luck in the game and try to find a friendly Free Company (this game's guild) for help and other players to touch base with

start menu>social> if I remember right. also if they are spamming via /tell use /blist add <r> and a popup will ask if you're sure you wish to blist them

I believe it's select to open the menus and then it would be in the social drop down menu.

Ah okay thanks guys! I'll definitely try to check that when I get home. I tried to get a LS or guild or whatever it is they're called in this game lol, but I never got a response. maybe because of the RMT spams but who knows. Also, where can I see my current progress to next level? I can see my HP/MP/etc, but maybe im just missing it? I was just curious. Also, I noticed you can attack a monster that someone else also is attacking that isn't in your party, how does that work xp wise?

Also is it possible to create a new character on a different server? or are you just limited to 8 characters per account on 1 world?

By default, your XP bar is displayed below the HP/MP/TP bars. You can also see progress bars for each of your individual classes in the Classes tab of the Character screen. Edit: If you mean on the lodestone, look at the list of classes under your main stats. You're currently 225/300 on LNC.

If you or your party claim a mob (its name and health bar are red), you get full XP, quest and regular items it drops. If you do 30% or more damage to someone else's mob (purple name and health bar), you get full XP and quest items it drops, but not the regular drops. So it's possible for up to 4 players/parties to each get full XP from one enemy (player/party 1 claims, 2-4 each do 30% of the damage).

There are two account levels. The cheaper one allows 1 character per server, up to a maximum of 8 total. The more expensive one allows up to 8 characters per server, up to a maximum of 40 total.

ah that makes more sense, thanks! Also, I keep getting the error "you may have reached your daily post limit or your character is too low" when trying to post to other threads. I was only trying to post on the Zalera thread, any ideas?
