Error 601 while trying to renew sub

Hi I'm wondering has anyone been able to combat this yet as I'm trying to renew my sub which ends in 9 days. I'm using Chrome, Windows 7 64-bit home premium and my card Is a Visa Electron If that helps

I am on Mastercard and setup my recurring 6 month sub a few days ago without issue. I set up via the Mog station for the sub, entered my card info and they did a test billing for $1 (a common practice to ensure card is live and they can access it).

Does your CC company or Credit card have any restrictions or security measures you are unaware of? Many CC companies wil refuse a transaction if the system sees a purchase trying to be made outside your usual spending pattern or area. I had this when travelling in Ohio last year. had to call my CC company and OK that it was in fact me that was attempting to use my CC in Ohio. Rather embarrassing when in a gas station trying to pay for fuel.

call your CC company and have them verify the $1 or 1 euro test payment went through without issues and the payment got to the company trying to ask for it.

Also the Visa electron is not a typical Credit card and is more of a visa Debit card where you must have funds actually in your account to process the purchase..so make sure you have the funds being asked for and that they do not have some extra layer of security preventing the transaction from completing.

What browser are you using, NoScript in Firefox has been found to be one cause. You're trying to pay SE directly or via UltimatePay?

SE have posted this advice:

For Customers Receiving Error 601
If you are receiving an error 601 message when attempting to enter a new payment method or updating an old one, the error maybe caused if you are on a private network or on a company network. If possible, we recommend that you try using an outside network to register your payment method to your Square Enix Account. As repeated registration failure can lead to restrictions being placed on your account, we strongly recommend that you contact the Square Enix Support Center for guidance before attempting to register a Credit/Debit card again.

Which is very odd, hard to understand how using some type of internet connection can affect it but clearly it does.

This was a person that was using the Visa Electron:

So I thought well hey maybe they are right so, I checked again logged into Mogstation, typed everything on paper and then retyped it on GlobalCollect form guess what ERROR 601.

So then I was thinking I will try to register my card on PayPal ( thinking it will give me error saying that it is already registered ) to check if I'm really this dumb by putting wrong info on GlobalCollect form. Guess what ( remember I have VISA Electron ) there is no VISA Electron option on PayPal only VISA so I was like how the hell did I registered that, I probably had to choose VISA as only option.

That made me thinking, so I went to Mogstation and I choosed VISA option instead of VISA Electron and damn it went without ANY PROBLEM O.o
