Crafting And Get D/C = Lose Mats

Me and my wife are connected to the same router. I was getting consistent 90k errors last Saturday and she didn't get a single one. I have a feeling it's some game related bug that causes the client to lose connection with the server or it's delayed etc.

Have you submitted a bug report? It could equally be a network adaptor failure, a dns error or a firewall/porting issue, an anti-virus issue or dozens of other things. If it is a server issue (entirely possible) then a bug report about it or even a thread specifically about the connection issue you are experiencing may be more worthwhile than a thread about losing crafting mats on dc, as that's the one aspect of the whole situation that's working as intended.

hmm, i havent experienced connection problems since august though :P 90k actually still exists? :O

90k is and has always been the general code when you lose your connection to the server for whatever reason.

Could be worse. You could lose all your materials because someone decided to be an jerk and cast "cure" on you. This was an issue in FFXI for the longest time.

The only way (that I can think of) to really fix it, giving you back your materials when you disconnect. Will cause more issues than it will fix with exploiting the mechanic, you're probably going to have to stomach this one.

You made a rant about losing mats on a disconnect. That is not an issue, it's the way it should be, as other posters have already noted.

The actual issue is the myriad of connection issues people are still having with the game.

As mentioned, it only happened during a specific time range on Saturday. It has not happened again since then.

Great just blew up my crafting when server dc'd me (error 90000) thats another 225k gone (9 coke x 25k each) THANK YOU /sarcasm

The crafting protocol is not an issue. There is no alternative to it that wouldn't be abused.

I personally don't know anyone having connection issues, however that is anecdotal, and may not represent the whole (just as OP's example). Either way there is no issue with losing mats on DC.

Of course there is an alternative. When you log-back in, you're still kneeled down crafting in the same spot with your state saved. That way if you have a bad few rolls, you can't DC to restart- you'll be at the same spot. And if the server kicks you, you're not penalized potentially hundreds of thousands of gil.
