Must you beat the primals with your relic job?

Hi. I've been wondering if you must beat the primals with the job that corresponds to your relic quest.

A lot of people seem to say yes to this, but I haven't found a single one who actually tested it. And the quest doesn't say anything about being job specific in objectives or requirements.

So do you *really* need to be in the corresponding job, or is it just an old wives' tale? Has anyone gotten proof that this is the case?

Oops, I misread. As far as I know you do, mainly because the quest is for that certian class.

Yes you need to beat them as the job the relic is for to proceed.

Yes you do, I've seen some people complained about not getting credit while they did Ifrit. So yes.

Now here is my question. Do you Need to have the weapon for the quest equip or can I use diffrent weapon? Like on mnk can I use Ifrit h2h instead of the unfinished relic?

Once you get up to the Primal fights in the relic quest, you won't have access to your unfinished relic anymore as you had to hand it back. So use whatever weapon you have available

You wont have your unfinished relic at that point, the blacksmith takes it back after Hydra.

According to http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...rn-Walkthrough, you do not need to use the unfinished weapon, but you do need to defeat the primals as the job for which you're getting the weapon.
