Use Darksteel armor then.

Of course AF2 + Hoplite Circlet is a straight upgrade from the Heavy DL armor, you can see that by just adding up the stats on the pieces and comparing.
My main issue with the 2 slot gear is that why are tanks forced to use an ilvl60 head piece when upgrading from DL to AF2, as opposed to DD classes whom are able to equip ilvl70 headgear when they upgrade? There's really no reason why SE couldn't have made it so that the darklight pieces for tanks were separate instead of lumping them together.
On a side note, I also really, really hate how the heavy darklight armor looks like. At least let us take off the damn helmet, it makes my character look like she has neck problems.

I think their point is that iLvl60 head + iLvl90 body is inferior to iLvl70 head + iLvl90 body, which is what DPS get to have.
I feel you, OP. The Healer/Caster body pieces are also one piece, so if I ever want to get a head or body AF2, I have to downgrade the other slot (or spend 900 tomes and HQ+quad-meld iLvl70 crafted gear, which defeats the purpose of using DL.)
I personally don't mind the 2 slots pieces as long as they look ok, but those are ugly![]()
BLM/SMN and WHM/SCH support this too , we got a 2 piece too ._. no way to hide the head slot![]()
I agree and am refusing to purchase the Darklight chest, am just skipping it over in favor of the AF2 Valor Chest for my PLD...{will have it next Mon...} I think the 2 piece combined look is horrible and as others have said makes upgrading to AF2 ever the more ridiculous, makes no sense why there really is no other decent option besides the AF2 chest...le sigh~!
