How to completely mute all the audio from the game?

When I'm crafting or farming I like to listen to podcasts and stuff but I keep hearing the rain and wind in the game although I have muted everything I can in the audio options. Is there a way to still mute sounds from the weather and stuff?

Not currently, no. You can open FFXIVconfig and disable all audio. There's a bug thread on this, but due to the way audio is programmed there likely won't be a fix until the bigger things get sorted out.

    Okay, thanks for the clarification.

If you are using Windows (Windows 7 specifically), right click on your volume icon on the lower right and click on "Mixer" or "Open Volume Mixer", then look for FFXIV and click mute.

Not strictly on topic, but everyone is using Windows. It's a requirement to run the game. The volume mixer is also in earlier Windows versions, so this should work for anyone.

Of course, if someone has somehow figured out how to work around that with a Windows emulator (and do tell!), they probably know how to control application sounds. = )

In the Final Fantasy XIV config program, go to the sound tab, and then check the box that says "disable sound device", and the game will not have any sound. (just don't forget to hit apply at the bottom)
