I need the opinion of other players on this question. I am close to being able to get my AF armor, but my friend hears that it isn't worth getting, that its just more for show. Is there truth in that comment? Also is it level 45 that you can start getting the AF armor or higher and where do you get the quests for the Bard AF? Thanks in advance for input and advice.

You'll get your AF by doing the job quests, which are easy and also give you important skills. So yes, get your AF gear.

AF gear is excellent for a fresh-faced level 50 job. You will replace the pieces over time, but right out of the gate, they're excellent.

I will chime in since I just recently got mine and am now level 46 and have just beaten Garuda and I am a BARD. After completing your BARD 45 Quest to unlock Rain of Death you meet your Bard teacher back at his usual spot and he then reveals the location of the first 4 pieces of the AF Gear that he scattered across the world.
I am not going to lie to you and say they are easy to get..but 3 of them are fairly easy only one takes some skill/luck. There is one piece located in the Sylphlands and I literally had to kite my way through to get it and then I teleported my ass out of there...whew....got though and it feels soooooooo good!!!!!
Whoever said it is not good and is "for show" doesn't know what they are talking about or got incorrect information. This gear with all four pieces on had much greater stats then anything you can have right now...it almost seems like cheating to have it at this point.

Thanks Mikedizzy, just looked at your armor on the Lodestone, its nice gear like you said. Just wish it threw in some Piety on the armor to help our MP for our bard songs.

Quite honestly Piety would not do you much good unless you had a bunch and you would never want to replace DEX, VIT, ACC, CRIT with PIETY. Having been using songs a long time now you should really never need to keep them up that long so the MP you have is sufficient and thus no need to increase your MP Pool. Good luck!

You will NEED to get the AF1 to complete job quest, in order to unlock Relic quest for said job. Can't get around it. Even if it's "sucky", you still need to get it one way or another.

You'll have to do your job quests, which reward you your AF, if you want to get your relic weapon. So you are going to have to get the AF, whether or not you wear it.
