Purple Aetheryte: What is it?

So i have been exploring lately and just come across the purple atheryte crystal in the coerthas in a cave. What is it for? All it says is "The aetheryte emits a dull light..." when i examine it.

48-18 - get there from a cave at the south of it or at the top of 48-19 - Glowing Purple Atheryte
When you examine it you get "The aetheryte emits a dull light...."

Hmm this reminds me of the crystals in FFXI in Valkrum Dunes in which you talk to to get to Lufaise Meadows.

You're getting near a gate that leads to Abyssea =D Seriously where else do you see purple Aerythe crystals?

Ok I know this is utterly bizarre but think about it; if you suddenly saw a zone that's a clear remnants of ancient civilization of Vana'diel. Like the top of Delfuktt's Tower sticking out of moss and rocks that would be pretty amazing.
